Description
aand maybe outdated now i think… againupdated: included a real horse, and dragon
In trying to develop my art style, I also want to draw characters to a different scale than the show, so this is to try and give me a set scale to stick to (although the anatomy is not the same as I wish, so it's not perfect, nor to be taken as 'exact'), Perhaps I may end up using it to help with commissioned artists as well, if it is relevant.
More characters will probably be added in time, but hopefully the sizes will stick cause I did think about them for quite a while in fitting together logically, but w/e
If anyone is interested in why I chose certain heights, you are more than welcome to discuss with me in the comments

Why are the pony's so big? I like the high difference between the three races but I don't get why sooo big

I feel that, if you are trying to compare the size of a pony to that of a human, then you must first know how big an actual pony is... Which isn't very big...
Ponies are a distinct breed of equus ferus caballus. Major distinctions from most of the other breeds being a thicker, shaggier coat, and a much shorter stature. So using a horse's height as a template would be like using a Human as a size template for a Dwarf.
Equines and Bovines aren't measured conventionally, but rather, through the use of a specialized unit called "Hands" wherein, to roughly translate, a single hand is 4 inches (10.16 cm).
Simply some things I felt you would need to know should you want to ever include a human in the same artwork.

Isn't Chrysalis a little too small compared to Luna and Tia?

Compared to the show, yes; I think in that she is the same height as Celestia.
However, I suppose I wanted to emphasise my idea that Celestia and Luna are unique, older and more powerful than her.
I also said 'Changeling Queen' instead of her name because I see her as just another of her species, who will eventually die and be replaced, like in real insect colony.
Being shorter would not stop her from still being scary/intimidating though, especially with that huge horn

Ah, I see... You have a rather more scientific approach to the case. Personally I have a grand sympathy to the Changeling Queen and because of it I see Her as much more than a mere representant of the Changeling species. After all, there are several things that differ Her from the rabble that serve Her.

Well she would be 'special', but only in the same way that a queen ant or bee is to the rest of their hive, I suppose.

Can't deny the sense in your thinking, although the world of My Little Pony is a world of magic and charm and personally I don't compare the Changelings to any kind of insects we know from our world, even though they have several features that could suggest so.

Well there are many insects which have evolved to look like a different type of insect, or object, either to avoid predators, or to be sneaky (like the changelings).
in fact there are types of bugs which pretend to be ants so they can pass unchallenged into a nest and eat their eggs (substitute: love)

Indeed, but I haven't seen any of them looking like humans (ponies) or talking

Fair point, but just as humans still have much in common with monkeys, presumably much of the changelings traits would still be around from their insect ancestors? (if that's even how they came about… maybe they are actually ponies that are host to some sort of parasite instead )
As with much of MLP though, there's next to nothing known about the changelings, so it's not like either of our opinions is 'correct' or 'incorrect' (unless there's some stuff the comic writers made up, idk)

It's very hard to argue with you because of your strong arguments
Like you've accurately noticed, nearly nothing is known about the Changelings and their beautiful Queen so our dispute is but an exchange of personal impressions ^^ There might be something in the comics by IDW but I don't take as canon anything else than the show.

They all look good to me, except Discord, who I feel needs to be a lot taller. The four pony heights towards the start might also need to be smaller, but I take it you had your reasons for sizing them that way?

Discord's height is actually based on depictions of serpentine dragons in folklore and legends, most notably that of St.George:

blog.findmypast.co.uk/wp-conte…
Also, unlike the show where Discord is incredibly powerful, I prefer that he uses cunning and treachery (not the he doesn't already).
I would also scale the insanely big dragon from dragonshy down a lot as well, to a more 'Skyrim-esque' size (probably 15'?)
The ponies heights are pretty much based on real horses (instead of ponies), it looks quite strange with the show anatomy, but with more realistic anatomy with a smaller head and eyes in comparison to body, it would look fine I think, e.g in a style like this: carnivorouscaribou.deviantart.…
