Amy is the legs. You may have heard that people have complained that Karen Gillan was wearing too short skirts and the like. Everyone at Doctor Who thought it was hilarious and ridiculous.
Rory is the nose. When Amy first tells the Doctor she's engaged he goes 'to who the good looking one? or the one with...' and touches his nose.
And River is Mrs. Robinson because she's the fiery older woman.
I would seriously suggest watching the last series at the very least for you to understand what the characters have been through, especially as the silence was a bit of a story arc for last season too. Plus the fact it was completely awesome.
