Description I just realized... this may be the first 3D peice I've uploaded!
A whole semester of it and the first peice I upload is the exam... wow. D:

Anyway, sorry for the grainy photo. I was in a hurry.
But. The midterm for my AP Art 3D Portfolio class was to create an assemblage showing an action. It's really vague, and it resulted in people not getting ideas until the night before, and even later...
But I digress. As usual.
The point is, I took some crap left over from other projects (the face sculpture from the glass-slumping plaster mold, the funky thing in the corner for a similar peice of a hercules beetle, etc.) and I turned it into a representational assemblage of human thought. I would tell you the symbolism, but I'm lazy and need to study for US History and AP Calculus. Bleh.

So, I did this whole thing in about 7.5 hours, amazingly. 5 hours the night before, and 2.5 in-class exam time. Lots of drilling, cutting, gluing, rushing, whining, and yelling at those damn screws for being so cheap.

Materials:
Head (clay, screws, acrylic, sharpie)
Graphic Blots (cut paper)
Background (newspaper, ink, acrylic wash, spraypaint (for the border))
Twigs (from my backyard! :3)
Chains
Screws
Washers
Funky X Tiles (~Paimonerra let me have 'em ^^)
Strings (died in mango-flavored tea)

Thanks so much!
It was really fun to mix so many types of art, yeah. I'd like to see what you made, if you finished it!

Hm, interesting.

Haah, somehow that seems to happen with EVERYTHING I do for school that has a deadline on it

I like it...a lot, and cant quite pinpoint why. I guess the reason doesnt really matter. Just know that I'm impressed. If any of your other 3D pieces are like this one, you should deffinately upload them. I wanna see 'em. I absolutely -love- your style of art. You were one of the people that stood out the most from the very start of GSE. You always work really well with color.

Wow... that meant a lot to me. D:
There were a lot of talented artists at gse, but I did notice some that stood out more than others (you, Wendy, Mallory, Melody, and Michael to me). I never would have thought I stood out to someone!
Thank you! ^^

I definately plan on uploading the others.

DUDE!!! I can see it now!
I was subliminally expressing my feelings about exam week! XD

Maybe I should make my next peice spell out "boob"...

DUDE! YES!
On all your stuff you should put subliminal messages.

Dat would be cool.
Dont tell anyone though.
Realy, dont.

I don't think I'll be able to do it on all of them, but I'll definately try.

In truth, it really is so well put together that I can't tell it's 3D. As the "well put together" implies, I really do love this... And it's not as macabre as you made it sound. Has it's more morbid spots, clearly... Definitely has an air of darkness, but the graphic blots really evened it out for me. LOVE the brush strokes and colors in this one. I tried to hold off on mentioning the color for as long as possible, but I couldn't help it. It's kind of my thing, heh. But yes, it's beautiful in the oddest way possible! *fave*

Thanks!
I couldn't supress the inate happiness that seeked its rightful position on my project of joy and love.
...but really, it was more macabre before I assembled it. I confuse myself more than you know.

Actually, now that I look at it, it reminds me of the "Let my thoughts bleed out my ears" sketch you did! I mean, with thoughts as the concept and everything! Yay, you subliminally inspired me!

ZOMG, you're right it does! Maybe that's why I like this one so much, lol. See? Proof we need to hang out more.

Duuude that is so awesome. I really love the way the eye flows through the piece, and the unity yet randomness at the same time. It sounds like a really cool class. I wish we had more diverse art classes... we only have Art 1-4 and 2 honors classes with everything thrown together TT_TT

inkloose In reply to kitsune-nilde [2008-01-16 03:52:47 +0000 UTC]

Sweet! Thanks!
It is a cool class. I liked 2D better... I'm not that great with 3D media. I get inspired with it a lot less often. But you should encourage the school to get an AP art program. It's worth it.

Actually, almost no time and effort were involved for anyone! We were all rushing around like crazy people trying to get them done before the exam ended. X3
Thanks much! I'm glad it looks like it took a while. P:

You are really good at abstract and I am woefully inept at it. Therefore, I am unable to critimacizerfy anything about this conglomeration of abstruse brain patterns affixed upon an artistic medium.

Wow, I just went from making up a word to sounding semi-intelligent.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

inkloose In reply to Warrior-of-Winds [2008-01-16 00:03:14 +0000 UTC]

Affixed by means of utilizing artistic media, you mean. XD

Many thanks be to you, and indeed, conversing with an air of intellectual affinity makes one sound utterly respectable. And daft. >.>

Warrior-of-Winds In reply to inkloose [2008-01-16 04:21:35 +0000 UTC]

I meant artistic medium as in the paper/board thing itself.

Yeah, it's pretty hard.
If you fall behind, you get trampled. :\
But it's worth it! You learn a lot, and it gets you ready for client-based art careers.

Crimson-Jazz In reply to inkloose [2008-01-16 05:00:33 +0000 UTC]

Boo art careers. I'm gonna be a writer and work on my own schedule. ;D After I become a bestseller. 9-5 until then..

inkloose In reply to Crimson-Jazz [2008-01-16 22:12:39 +0000 UTC]

Lol, good luck!
Let me know when you make it- I'll make sure to buy your novels!

I plan on being a graphic designer. So the art career thing really helps... Maybe in the meantime I'll do studio art to make a few bucks on the side. I really want to do something I enjoy and not have to bag groceries...

Crimson-Jazz In reply to inkloose [2008-01-17 00:00:16 +0000 UTC]

Know what, you should totally design the graphics for the covers of my novels! Then we'd both make moneyz!

Goo~
I don't even think I saw the finished product!
I was too busy gluing and improvisng like there was no tomorrow!
I like yours a lots better than I like mine. Yours isn't all confusing and shits. It's all nice and flowy. I like.

Did you do something else to the face? It looks texture-y.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

inkloose In reply to Paimonerra [2008-01-15 23:59:33 +0000 UTC]

Psh, your face candles totally owned.

I went over the left side of the face with an organic-y sharpie pattern. Like the one on my paper mache vessel.

I love everyone's exam peices this year! They're friggin amazing, unlike the crap we all threw together last year. It's amazing how you built that box in such a little amount of time. D:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Paimonerra In reply to inkloose [2008-01-17 01:47:21 +0000 UTC]

The face candles I was proud of. The rest... not so much. I didn't even completely finish... I'm gonna touch it up since I'll be using it in my breadth.

Oh, oh, the vessel details were amazing. Now I really wanna see it in person. ;_;
But I didn't really see anyone else's, besides Mia's. I saw glimpses of everyone's. It looks like some people did sort of throw stuff together, but not to the retarded extent of last year. I bullshitted the 1st semester exam like CRAZY. 2nd semester, I didn't even finish... and I hated it. It didn't count. But I still tried. ... ... so... ugly. D:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

inkloose In reply to Paimonerra [2008-01-17 02:57:57 +0000 UTC]

I'm probably going to use it in my breadth too.

Lol, I know! I dropped by this morning to check out all the arts. Other than yours, mine, Mia's, and Elley's... everyone else's looked really rushed. But better than last years stuff. I didn't get to see 3D, but it's probably not as good.
