Personality: On the surface, Jacob is as self-centered as a spinning top, and has a distinct tendency to sulk when forced to do anything remotely unpleasant to him, like dirtying his hands or staying at anything less than a five star hotel. Generally, however, he is urbane, good humored, and charming, with very few qualms about making fun of himself. Because of various life experiences, he also appreciates anyone who genuinely enjoys his company and has a definite penchant for cute. Wherever possible, he will pamper the people he cares for to the best of his ability and when necessary, will swallow his preoccupation with his own comfort to help them (he will still grumble and whine about the inconvenience, but without any real rancor).

History: Jacob was born into a wealthy Jewish family living in Rome during the Italian Renaissance, which, although he had very good parents who did their best, meant that his childhood was less than idyllic. When he was 14, his father commissioned an extremely famous artist to do a portrait of Jacob, and by the time the painting was finished, the artist had taken Jacob under his wing, teaching him the fundamentals of painting and engendering in him a love of the arts, and also a very keen eye for quality work. He also developed a very sound head for finance, and at 22, he took over his father's money lending business, and ran it very well for five years, when one of his wealthy and aristocratic clients stopped payment on a loan. When he confronted the man about this over dinner in the friendliest way he could, he blacked out halfway through the meal and woke up in a cellar, with a note stuffed in his hand explaining that he was now a vampire and the fundamentals of his new condition. Later, he discovered that what had in fact happened was that his client had drugged him and then set fire to his house in order to make an example of him, and that he had been rescued by a vampire. He has never met his sire, and has no idea why he was changed. He suspects it was vindictiveness or malicious amusement, however, because he is acutely hemophobic. All in all, it was a little too much for him, and he determined that from now on, he would dedicate his life to having a fabulously good time. He found various methods of dealing with his hemophobia (at present he uses syringes), left Rome, and began capitalizing on a talent for spotting budding artists, buying cheap and selling incredibly high. In order to keep under the radar, he moves around and changes identities constantly, and in order to keep himself safe, has managed to convince an older and more powerful vampire named Maria Costa to allow him to act as her PA of sorts. Although he finds her slightly terrifying, the arrangement has so far worked well - Jacob gets security on a number of levels and has on occasion managed to convince Maria to act as a model, generally when he thinks the artist in question is likely to make a gift of a few sketches.
The tattoo on his arm (see reference) is a prisoner number from Auschwitz. Although generally not a fighter in any sense unless absolutely necessary, the events of WWII struck a chord with him and he assisted in helping people in danger of being sent to prison camps escape occupied territory. He was apprehended and sent to Auschwitz in the spring of 1943, spending two weeks inside before breaking out. He has never gone into details about his experiences there, but at the same time seems to consider it simply another event in his very long life.
Currently, he has come to Toradh ahead of his partner to lie low after making a massive sale in Hong Kong. He is posing as an artist in town for the scenery and is not at all happy about having to act like he has no money.
Other: Just in case you missed it in his history, Jacob is hemophobic.
Also, the logo on the gray top is an AC Milan logo. Jacob has been a fan since 1908.
