Description
So here we have a colourful merman - I hope his hair hasn't come out too Gotti-esque - astride a hippocampus, off to find adventure. His patterning was inspired by the nifty tattoos on one of 's characters - observe: [link]
I based the hippocampus on a leafy seadragon. Notice the bells on its reins: they're all slightly different, because the rider pinched them from various shipwrecks. Silly, really - bells don't ring underwater.
Thoughts on the colours, anyone?

His patterns remind me of Arlecchino (or Harlequin as he's better known now) Your style is just so cool I can't get over it!

This is AWESOME! Did ever mention how much I LOVE you style! I want to print these out and put them up on my wall. First off, I love your merman! I'm glad you picked the design you did, and the colors! I didn't think merman could ever be both beautiful and masculine, but somehow you managed! He seems like a really fun guy! And of course, his noble steed, is AMAZING! (yes, I'm a total horsefreak). Anyway, I love how beautiful and flowing the body structure is from mane to tail, fetlock to wings (fins). All on such a lovely stylized BG/frame. Wonderful work girl!

Why, thank you!
I'm glad he looks like a fun guy to you, because that was the idea! I think of him as being carefree, silly, and inquisitive - with the harlequinn patterning, it would be hard for him to be anything else! As far as being beautiful and masculine, I've discovered something that helps with that: giving a character a broader mouth seems to always make them look more masculine.
Re: printing my stuff off...you know, I've been considering offering my work in the print shop, what do you think?

You're very welcome!
Really? I would have never guessed that! Very good observation on your part. Any yeah! If I ever took an underwater tour, I want him to be my guide.
Print shop, ok. here's my say on it. First, for me personally, that would be great! I would love your work either as a print, a calendar, or even a coffee mug! I think your work is definetly print worthy. However it is a bit of a gamble since you never know if someone will buy (me personally, I think I've only sold one print since having my print account for oh, 3 years?). Of course, my photography isn't anything spectacular either. But your work is very nice, like proffessional illustrations! So, I guess, in the end, I think it's worth a shot!

He'd be an ace guide - I oughta give him a name!
As for the print shop, I sort of suspected what you just mentioned, and that's exactly what's been holding me back. I think I'll wait until I get a bit more well known. Thanks!

Yeah! He'd be raking in the, uh, shell cash?
I'd have to agree. It'd probably be a little better to wait.

By the way! Remember that statue of the fish-tailed centaur at the Louvre I mentioned to you before? Well, it's called a centauro-triton, an icthyo-tauri, or an icthyocentaur. Here! See!
