Thanks! I've been working a little under 20 years professionally, but I've really only started breaking out in the past four or five. It's been a trip, still going!

Haha, sure! Lesson 01: Practice the fundamental lessons of Anatomy, Perspective and Composition (the stuff you can find in just about any classic how-to-draw book). Seek ways to apply them to the style in which you wish to draw best. Come back in one year and show me how you've improved. Don't slack off, don't take shortcuts, and don't cheat!
Good luck!

yes my masta! *trains under waterfalls and stuffs* ive been told my anatomy is decent but I do have issues with perspective :-/ like... "okay so this coat looks like this but how does it set and how does it look from this angle" ect xD

So, here's the thing about perspective; The best way to fake it is to actually do it. I'm not saying you gotta do all the numbers and get geometrically fussy about it (unless you're working out stuff with repeating patterns), but you totally gotta drop the VPs and put down the guides, at least if you're doing anything with rigid geometry (anything that isn't organic). And you have to know the rules on how to set scale and make sure that objects are more-or-less in correct relation to each other, because that's key to creating depth in your imagery.
It plays into anatomy when you want to do anything with depth and foreshortening, which is the key to dynamic composition. At that point you combine your knowledge of anatomical substructure to break down the form into basic shapes like ellipses or blocks. Then you build over those shapes for the actual forms that make up the anatomy of whatever you're drawing, whether it's human or horse or Honda Civic. All works the same.
Also, look up the trick on "false perspective", where you have the VP waaaay off the page, like twenty feet into the next room. It's an trick that makes it easy to lay down quick & dirty guides for anything. I think I might have an example in my Scraps.

Hi!
I really like this picture; it's really cool. I've used it for a bit of Dungeons & Dragons homebrew, for a "Dualist" class that I've made up. I cropped out some of the sketch background (which I really like, but didn't fit with where I was putting the picture), added "Dualist" over the top, and stuck it on top of my work - your signature is still included in the image, of course.
I just wanted to run all this by you, to make sure you're cool with it! I appreciate your work and would not like to misuse it. If you would rather I did not include the image, just let me know, and I will take it down.
You can see what I mean here: [link] ualist
Err... they turn part of the URL into an emoticon (equals sign + D), and I don't know how to stop it from doing that. Here's a shortURL version: [link]
Also, I don't come on DeviantArt very often, so please, if it's no trouble, contact me at my email:

Thanks, and again, excellent work!

Yeeaaahhh... I'll let it go this time, 'cause I like all that work you put into the class and feats and such. But please don't publish that without permission. If I license that image to a publisher, you'll be open to liability. For now it's fine, but just be aware you might have to take it down at some point.
Thank you for linking back to the page, too! But the last name is "McSweeney".

I have no intention to publish, no worries. And if you decide to publish the image, just let me know and I'll take it down. And, of course, I'll fix your name!

Sorry, but i'm not much for advanced critique on such a short time, i went through your archive of picture like a breeze, and i can just say i love it, possibly with future works i can come up with something decent to say, right now looking at pictures like this one words fail me.
Somehow it capture the essence of the romanticized adventurer with both the "i dunno where the hell that stuff comes from" and the kind of hint that you could understand the various things pieced togeter to form armor and equipment, if you had lots of time to spare and an encyclopedia.
Did i say that i love it. 'cuz.. you know... Seeing pictures like this one where the protagonist still looks like a girl but also looks like she is wearing proper armor and something useful (if a bit on the heavy side) is... well... as for now i've seen few artists rendering this kind of stuff probably i can count them on my fingers and get a few spares.

I like the armor design, very distinctive. There's too many individually good parts to it to know where to begin commenting. The mace and the swords are well-designed, they're both distinctive and somewhat ordinary at the same time. The details and bits of commentary in the background is a nice touch.
Great picture.

I had no idea that you drew like this. This is incredible. There is so much detail in this drawing. "...[L]azy..." is not the word. It is the total oposite of the er... thingy.
Anyway, I love every single detail in this picture. I looked at it so long, I found that you even implanted your 'lightbul/pen' sign within some of the costume design. Brilliant. The whole picture is flawless.
However, I don't like the fact that she has so much stuff on her. It's like 'How can she move?' You know? Maybe it's just me.
I'm adding it to my favorites and sending it to my *coughmothercogh* so she can admire it.

Lotta research, lotta practice.
Lot of failed ideas. For every good idea, there's probably 50 that just don't work.
