Description
-EDIT 032306- Decided to place this in it's proper Gallery position, since the inks largely stand on their own.Inks for the Usagi fanart I blew out tonight. Full color here -> [link]
Microns and brush pen on sketchbook, about 9x9 in the original. a few things were edited digitally... the sword blades, for instance, were redone with stroked bezier curves in PS to ensure smooth arcs. Plus, it's always nice to clean up the little mistakes that pop up in anything analog. I love Photoshop... *sigh*
Usagi Yojimbo is ยฉ Stan Sakai, all rights are his. Respect that man! He's never stopped producing a brilliant book for something like 15 years now. Check him out at the official Usagi Yojombo Dojo ->[link]

I can clearly see Sakai's influence in your art style. It pays homage nicely without emulating it to closely. Well done.

Hmm, I would love to color your inks with watercolor, Very Nicely done, and photoshop did clean things up huh? But don't Forget that small random mistakes can add charther and entertain the eye a bit. Still Very Nice work dude! Keep 'em coming!

The other version definitely keeps more with the Sakai style of clean line inking.

Work like this always makes me strive to improve! It's just amazing to see what one can do with beautiful lineart. I think this is a perfect homage to Stan's work. Keep up the great work, my friend.

Most impressive. Such cleaness. Can I ask how you got the arc of the blood so perfectly?

bezier (pen) tool in Photoshop.
Use the pen to define a vector path that describes the arc, and close the path to create a selection. Then stroke the inside of the selection with a brush size near to your pen size for the analog portion of the drawing.
Paths are great for pulling smooth, perfect arcs. It takes a while to figure out all the tricks of the tool, but it's worth it.
