Description
My sister suggested a rectangular wrap for this lapis lazuli stone, so I tried it without know how it would turn out. I used gold wire since the stone already has flecks of gold (coloring) already in it. It turned out to be a challenge to keep the stone from slumping to one side or the other. In the end, I got it to hold nice and firmly without needing lots of extra wires interfering with the frame. It creates quite a different effect than the other lapis I wrapped in gold .If you're interested in any jewelry like this, please check out my shop at [link] or send me a note!

thanks! It certainly takes some practice before the wire does what you want it to, I'm still learning, and I could show you all of the places I made little mistakes on each of my pendants

Wow. Do you use a metal plier and do this yourself? Or a special machine?

I just use a few small pliers and my fingers! I made a tutorial for a simpler pendant with the same sort of style at [link]

Do you just use a plain black background with good lighting ?

I have a piece of velvet cloth that I use, and I just got a new camera so I'm still figuring out what lights to use, and how to place them.
You can see little pieces of dust in some of the photos... the velvet isn't as clean as I want

Did you have light directed downwards in it?
an yah you can see dust on both sides, tape
or a roller works good for that. Takes it off
easily. Another thing too i came across, it
might help. Is to take thick white paper, cut
little sections, fold them into cards, and place
them around your piece. This will direct the light
a little better, I've used it, makes a world of
difference!

I think on this one, I had one light above the piece and one to the side. Both of them were shining through some thin cloth to diffuse the light some.

The photo came out a little more purple than the actual stone...
I'm still learning to use this new camera

Gorgeous! I didn't know that lapis lazuli came in such a purplish/indigo shade. I think the gold wire matches it very well.

Thanks
It's not quite as purpley in real life, but the camera certainly thought it was!
