Description
As a continuation to my Journal before: Celebrating Godzilla's 60th Birthday ,this month I will do old Godzilla edits as many as I can!
This first one is depicting the first ever recorded Kaiju battle, Gojira vs Angilas in the 1955 released movie "Gojira no Gyakushu"....
I want to make it looks like an old photo......but its kinda different from the original darker b/w in the movie
Why they were battling each other? ..... well Anguirus is a hardcore-pacifist and in the other hand Goji is a badass destroyer and warbringer
... can't put them together in the same room folks!! Godzilla's roar in this movie is one of the lousiest btw....

I used a ShodaiGoji as the model instead of GyakushuGoji because the suit is almost identical..... (Gyakushu is thinner) and dear doesn't own a mean looking GyakushuGoji in his gallery....

Background and everything else are from the internet mainly wallpaper sites and of course some effects was painted...
The planes are Mitsubishi A6M Zero (Zerosen, appeared in the 54 Gojira poster) and North American Aviation F-86 Sabre JASDF , only the Sabre appeared in the original movie tho, along with Lockheed T-33A Shooting Star.

I was so happy to see you created a scene from the second Godzilla movie! And I think one way you improved over the movie was to use the 54 instead of the 55 suit! Never liked that suit much to be honest..the fangs, the leaner look..naw. But this was a great choice! I am also glad to see you made it look old timey...not quite black and white, but a tad of color makes it look more aged. Also, it is cool you added the Otami castle in the background!

Anyway I also like the placemt of the planes, particularly in the foreground, which looks cool and adds a greater sense of depth. If I were to change anything, I am not overly fond of the jet flying in the middle top, it doesn't fit as well as the others in my opinion...but that is very minor. Overall, once again your love of kaiju is seen in your work, part of why I love to see these edits of yours! yep, I dunno why your GyakushuGoji looks so easy going!
the storyline is crappy and kinda rushed out to match the success of its predecessor but it has its own historical value since its the first time Goji battled another Kaiju..... like I said before, even tho the story was crappy, but the camera angle is great (for the monster battle scene).... as expected of Tsuburaya Eiji.... and I think this IS the movie which marked the dawn of Kaiju.... be it in the Godzilla installment or in Ultraman's.....
well the battle setting was in Osaka and the Osaka Castle is the main setting in Goji vs Angilas battle..... the Atami Castle in Atami, Shizuoka was used in Kingu Kongu vs Gojira ....
as for the planes, I used the original '54 Goji poster as the reference :
there you can see the F-86 Sabres, one in Gojira's hand and the other one is flying...... and the lone Zerosen is in the upper left part ...... in the original movie they used a flock of Sabres..... and I thought since its Gojira's birthday I'll make them all appeared....

Well, it very much deserves a critique IMO, and there are not many good tributes to this movie out there..can you believe stupid Americans named this Gigantus the fire monster? Ugh I am so embarrassed by us sometimes..no wonder we are the most hated country in the world..

I don't think this deviation will be popular since there are NOT many Godzilla fans who ever watch this movie or could even imagine how revolutionary was the special effects used on this movie that time.... the camera angle was ingenious.... this movie was a masterpiece by Tsuburaya Eiji... I wonder why Godzilla vs Megalon is way more popular..... it has one of the most ridiculous scene ever.... Goji and Ultraman erm Jet Jaguar tag team..... lol.... the infamous Goji slide using his tail!!!

Well,that is but one of the MANY things I appreciate about you..you really love the genre, and you get it. You could make a great kaiju movie director IMO I love talking to you about these movies because you know stuff I don't even know..
I loved the fight scenes in the second movie of the series..yes I know they used fast motion, but they up used it well, and they did amazing for such limited resources, like you say, great camera angles, etc, made it look thrilling to me.
