Gerard could feel the salty tears rolling down his cheeks, eyes stinging from trying to hold them back so long. His ears dropped against his skull and the young male could feel his heart jump into his throat. Ever nerve in his body felt as if it had been severed. Everything felt raw and painful to him in this moment.

Owl Heart watched from a short distance away as his son stood, hanging his head. And then Gerard lifted his skull and the tears in his eyes made Owl Heart's own heart leap into his throat and he too felt tears stinging his eyes. He could hardly bear to meet his son's gaze at the moment.

"I- I know I'm different. I've made enough mistakes to last a lifetime, but why, dad? Why do they all hate me so much? I may not have been born with a soul, but I have one now, so why can't they see anything good in me? Am I really that horrible?" Gerard asked, eyes dropping to the ground, unable to lock eyes with his father.

Silence.

"Nothing's wrong with you, Gerard. You're just... lost and confused... like your mother..."

This was just practice with a new style . The story kinda popped into my head after I was finished so I had to write it up. This is actually the first time Gerard ever hears his father mention anything about his mother since he was born. Owl Heart has a hard time talking about Ger's mom because being forced to never see her again is torture to him and so speaking about her re-opens that wound.
