You walked down the street, excited and ecstatic for your date.  America was taking you out to the movies!  Sitting on a bench in the park, you waited for your boyfriend to show up.   After about 10 minutes, you began to get impatient.

"Where is he?  Ugh!  He's always late!"
"Who's always late?" another voice chimed in.  You jumped out of your seat and turned to find the source of the voice.

"Where are you?  Who are you?" you scanned the empty space.
"I'm right here, and I'm Canada. . ." the voice whispered, clearly hurt.
"Oh!  Canada!  Haha, didn't see you there. . ." you sat in awkward silence with your friend.  This happened often. Too often, and you felt bad.

"Er, ______, who's always late?"
"Oh, America.  Probably doing 'Hero Business,' or something. . ."
"Yeah, my brother tends to do that. . .

After a few more minutes, you began walking to Americas house.  You were mad, he had OBVIOUSLY forgotten about your date, he lived not a minutes walk from your meeting spot!  He had no reason to be late.  You walked up to his door and knocked.  No answer.  But you could HEAR him, doing . . . What the heck was going on in there?

You used your key, (he had given you a spare in case of emergency.  What, this isn't an emergency?  At the moment, in your head, it was.  So there.) and opened the door.

You walked in to the living room, and your eyes widened in horror and your mouth fell open in shock.  You had walked in on America and another girl kissing on the couch.  Suddenly, he realized you were there.  He pulled away from the woman and ran to you.

"_______!"
"We had a date.  You obviously have better things to do though."
"We had a date today?  I mean, This isn't what it looks like! I was, uh, rescuing her!  You know, CPR!"
"I think she was rescuing me!  From JERKS like you!" you threw your key at him, and ran out of his house, bawling, not believing what had just happened.

As you ran home, tears blurring your vision, you literally ran into Canada.
"______!  What's wrong?" he asked, concerned for you.  You had been best friend since, well, forever.
"America. . . He-he cheated on m-me! A-and I th-thought he w-was so n-nice and I l-loved him s-so much!" You sobbed into his shoulder.

Canada's head was filled with conflicting opinions.  'Tell her you love her!  Stay friends!  Kiss her!  Let her cry it out!  Take over where your brother left off!  You really gonna try to take out your brothers ex?'

"C-Canada?" you whimpered.
"Yes?" he replied.
"I hope I find a guy one day who's just like you."
"Um. . . I'm like me."
"I know!  But I want a guy like you, cute and funny and shy and caring!  But your my best friend ever!  I couldn't change that!"

Canada sighed, and thought, 'One day you'll realize.  One day I'll tell you.  But for now, I'll just be your shoulder to cry on, and friend."

And so is the life of Canada, who has never gotten out of the friend zone.
