Kyle was the first Green Lantern I read about in the comics as I only got into the media after Hal's fall to Parallax and I have always liked the guy as a character. He does need more face time, but unless they do a White Lantern comic I don't see that happening with DC any time soon.

Perfect.Β  Growing up Marvel, there were only three DC books I followed (Superman, Batman, & the Teen Titans).Β  But I remember all the hate Kyle Rayner was getting at the time so I had to check it out.Β  But color me surprise when I found the comic really good.Β  It's interesting to look back on that period in the 90s when the Big 2 were replacing established characters but were facing negative feedback because of it.Β  Things never change, I guess.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Inspector97 In reply to WDCain [2017-04-09 18:44:49 +0000 UTC]

WellMarvel is changing as you know... but I think even that is experiencing pushback

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WDCain In reply to Inspector97 [2017-04-09 21:04:38 +0000 UTC]

I've seen that article where a Marvel exec said they're rolling back Diversity.Β  Now I actually enjoy the "Diversity" books (Jane Thor, X-23 Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Spider-Gwen, Moon Girl, & Falcon Cap).Β  My main problems with Marvel today are it's constant Event xovers non-stop, a lack of single-issue stories, and the artwork generally being poor with them either trying to make everything like a G-rated cartoon or hyper-realistic.Β  It's like the only thing that matters is for an artist to draw men without being super muscular or women super well endowed.Β  Plus the Inhumans shrilling suck!ο»Ώ

Still, it is nice there's a bunch of new X comics.Β  I need to pick up a couple to see if they're any good.

Inspector97 In reply to WDCain [2017-04-09 21:15:41 +0000 UTC]

I read that article to. I'm not sure I can agree with it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WDCain In reply to Inspector97 [2017-04-10 02:52:56 +0000 UTC]

I don't agree with it at all.Β  I was raised on Marvel but I am enjoying DC Rebirth so much more than Marvel Now simply because their books generally have better art, genuinely better writing, and a willingness to appeal to all ages.Β  It seems like nearly all of Marvel's books are meant for the tween age group.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Inspector97 In reply to WDCain [2017-04-10 02:55:21 +0000 UTC]

As I don't read them anymore I have no opinion. I think the idea of diverse heroes is great...but not sure why they reinvent established characters to introduce diversity. I can understand if it's story motivated...but they don't really commit to these things so i expect Marvel to return they characters in the most part back to who they were

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WDCain In reply to Inspector97 [2017-04-10 03:17:45 +0000 UTC]

I can respect Marvel for wanting more diverse super-heroes, I just wish that didn't mean wasting/killing off the old mantor wears like Nova, Bruce Banner, Thor, and Tony Stark.Β  At least Marvel eventually revealed the original Nova Richard Rider went out in a blaze of glory, Tony surviving just to be in a coma, and Thor finding the Hammer from the Ultimate'verse.Β  Poor Bruce... he got shafted and his cousin She-Hulk lost her sexiness and is now "Dark Vengeance!Β  No Cousin!"

He did. He lead a ragtag band of members of all the corps for awhile in his own Green Lantern Corps (later just simply called Lantern corps) book.

It ended two months ago... I'm a bit behind on my comics lately.
