Beautiful drawing of a proud and lovely woman.Β I know lots of people hate what Moore did to Barbara in TKJ (Moore included) but if he hadn't crippled her then odds are another writer would have killed Batgirl and the character would have been forgotten just like the first Batwoman and then she would never have gotten as popular from her stint in Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey.

I imagine she would have eventually appeared on TAS but not until season 4 and even then it probably would have been either a one-shot episode or an adaption where she would have "died."Β Β No way would we have gotten the kick-ass police commissioner in Batman Beyond.Β Then Barbara would have faded back into obscurity until Grant Morrison brought her back for an appearance in his run on Batman Inc. just like he did for Silver Age Kathy Kane where she would quickly be forgotten once he left the book.
Heck, I remember how long it took Supergirl to go back to being a Kryptonite following Crisis on Infinite Earths.Β Just imagine the convoluted origin DC would have cooked up for Barbara to bring her back.Β Seriously, it sounds f'd up but The Killing Joke was probably the best way to keep her in a Post-Crisis continuity.
