Now if this had been the movie, even I would have gone to see it. I didn't like the original series 'cause it was for girls, but I have some guy friends who watched it and found some reasons to like it. (Can't imagine why!

I didn't find the movie that bad! Β It needed more holograms, a different Aja, a different Pizzazz and less youtube videos, but over all it was much better than I thought it would be. Β It didn't have her keeping her identity a secret from Rio, but then there was never a reason for her to keep it from him in the original

well it made the Number 1 and Number 2 mistakes of making a movie based on an animated series, videogame, or comic book.
1: No respect for the source material *in this case even showed disrespect for the source's creator*
2: Thinks the source material has no real fanbase and that they can paint its characters over their own personal vision project or quick buck script.
-the fact this one keeps happening today is truly, truly, outrageous.

I didn't say there were no fans, I said the people making the movie were ignorant of that fact.
Many times directors and such seem to think the reason a movie based on an animated show, videogame, or comicbook is being made is because it was a cheap license and think they can do whatever they want with it. Completely unaware it seems that the studio/producers greenlit it because it has a fanbase and they want to exploit that fact.
Although that last statement is also seldom the case, it was with Super Mario, the Producers were dumb-founded to learn what the directors originally intended and tried their best to save it...they failed, but it seems before they knew what was happening the directors had used most of the budget already, so rather than kill the project they were forced to try and salvage it.
unfortunately most of the time, such as with Jem and the Holograms or cases like Bloodrayne, neither party cares and just want to make a quick buck and do whatever with the name.
