Description Hello

This is a concept media player skin. Could require some more work, but i would only do it if someone knew how to actually skin it.

Any advice to the now playing or generally to it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Aaaahhh....careful now. I think you've strayed a little far into iTunes territory. This, as it is, I think would be nice as an iTunes skin, but you'd probably be looking at a nice lawsuit from Apple if it was it's own player.

If you're looking for a primarily PC audience (which it seems you are), you'll probably want to make the icons a little more professional, smoother, but simpler, to fit with the Zune styling (but don't overdo it, otherwise you'll end up in the same situation I mentioned before, except with Microsoft on your ass, which would be MUCH worse).

GUI-wise, I think you should probably have less colors, and make them blend better, so you end up with a smoother, more professional environment. You might also want to avoid using products that you do not have the rights to as section icons. PlayStation 3 as your "Shared" icon is probably going to earn you a nice little shitstorm from Sony, as well as from Wii and XBox 360 fan-boys-and-girls.

Overall, nice start, but could do with some work. 6.5/10.

Wow. Thanks for the generous criticism.
In all honesty this is a practice of a GUI as because i never had actually developed it before.
If it was commercial use i would develop the icons myself, however implementation of nice icons takes a long time to develop, sometimes even more then the actual GUI.
I am hoping to come up with some revolutionary idea for Audio/Visual playback application in terms of design and layout. If you have a look at iRivers new mp3 player GUI [link] you can see they did an interesting job in terms of layout.
You are very right in terms of legal rights, but remember this isn't for sale, so who cares... haha.
It just really difficult to come up with an idea and implement it into a finished product.

I had a look at the video, and it does seem like they've got the right idea on what consumers want, and if I'm not mistaken, I think that's kinda what you were going for. If that is the case, then you'll really want to go for a more minimalistic control set, but a more packed, but geometric, library and media viewer experience.

As for your icons, yes, fair enough you're not setting this thing loose, although you'll still have the shitstorm from Wii and XBox360 fanboys and fangirls (myself being one of them xD).

If you want, I can probably throw you up a few design ideas and layouts that you can use. I've got PhotoShop CS, so I can do that in just a few minutes, I guess :\

Anyways, yeah, tell me what you think.

It would be awesome to design a new form of interface, one which is both innovative yet professional and easy to use. Your ideas would be greatly appreciated, however i doubt i will be able to put anything into action until about 3 weeks from now... Uni Exams ... maybe let me know in a few weeks.

Thanks.
