Simple comment would not give it the justice, so I decided to jury-rig "pseudo-critique" using comments system. Here it goes!
FOREWORD:
What a smashing and beatiful piece, giving us great insight of troubled little filly's soul.
VISION:
Definitely 5 stars. As seen in the episode it was based on, Applebloom tries to think of topic for a column... But despite her hard tries, she can't come up with anything! You have perfectly captured emotions of artist struggling with artistic block, all the anxiety coming from not wanting to disappoint the readers, her friends, and her will to, through hard work, at long last get a cutie mark!
ORIGINALITY:
While "pony vector" thing may seem done already, perfectly chosen face neatly counteracts this. And, if we include really "kawaii" (if I may use that term) wallpaper in our considerations, one will quickly realise that this work actually subverts the style, creating whole new quality in the process!
TECHNIQUE:
Needless to say, *InternationalTCK gives us the best as always. While color scheme is same old Applebloom, exaggerated look on her face changes the composition of the face,completely changing role colors fulfill and they relations.
Obviously, lack of the background serves practical reason (for those who wish to use this magnificent piece of art as regular "pony vector") as it does wonders for composition - we're cut off from the desk filled with notepads, we don't see her friends struggling as much as she does, we don't see beautiful skies or Ponyville Elementary schoolyard. There is only us, and her - but she doesn't notice us. She's in her own world.
IMPACT:
Obviously, whoever crosses path with this masterpiece, will never forget the day. Only thing I'm afraid that it might slip under-appreciated thorugh the eyes of general public, although I hope it won't be so, and it will get the recognition it deserves.
OVERALL DEVIOUSNESS RATING:
It is definitely one of the finest pieces in history of brony art from time of "the pen is lonelier then the" by ~seniorpony (possibly better known as "books! god i love books"). Also note, I'm rating it separately from the beatiful wallpaper it was used in, since it deserves separate critique.
AFTERWORD: I'm high on pony and coffee. Forgive me.
(Also, it's not supposed to be sarcastic dissing on the piece or something, it's actually leftovers of April Fools in my mind told me to do this...)
