Hidden Databanks- Bitrise and the Fragment Cities
A city of digital bits rebuilt from the pieces lost in the stream, Bitrise is a salvaged hub for the discarded. Due to being junk data the structure of the city is unstable and parts are prone to failure and corruption. Fault tolerance is ever on the minds of its residents and along with data reclamation and restoration, among their primary concerns. Viruses are a common issue, but there is no shortage of filters available to sort out the worst. Corruption is the true enemy of this hidden city of the net. Due to its nature of being essentially fragments discarded from systems, the city itself takes to the stream and gathers new structures to replace the that which, has fallen to corruption or infection or simply has become too obsolete to function. Databugs are routinely shed from the city and may accidently spread unexpected glitches or corruption to the more proper systems. Due to reclaiming a forgotten sophisticated obfuscation and encryption protocol and its inherently unstable and glitchy encoding, the city's data is essentially invisible to today's data detection methods. Along with lacking any actual file pointers, this essentially makes the city invisible to its current hosting system. Being overwritten is a constant danger, so scanning and data mining the host system is common practice when the system is found to be actively used.

Bitrise's origin is currently unknown and what is known, is known only from inference and years of careful study. This is not the only and probably not the largest glitchdrive in the chaos of the data void, but it is one of the oldest, The nature of its residents, what they are, as opposed to the city itself is not entirely yet clear and presents a current area of wild speculation and heated point of research. Continued insight into the phenomena of spontaneous and currently inexplicable reorganization of 'junk' data will continue and undoubtedly provide deep insights into the nature of the unique digital space created by the massive amount of data and files that criss-cross the Internet in this day and age. As this network of networks grows, the prevalence and complexity of this hidden side will undoubtedly continue to increase.

We have dubbed Bitrise and its ilk under the moniker of fragment cities due to their origins primarily from fragments of files or programs. Research on these phenomena continues.

UPDATE: We have recently made a breakthrough in our discoveries of this fragment city, we are currently investigating an event as it takes place. We shall release a full report on this once we have completed the analysis of the data.
