Very impressive. The texture of the skin, the muscle tones, and the expression are very well done and make this look very realistic. The only surprise is that it doesn't lift up it's head and look at you when you get close to it... does it?

Thanks for the comment, a little story on this piece, It was purely from my imagination but I do have a lot of background for bone and muscle anyways I stylized the ears in a fun design sort of way and someone told me dogs don't have ears like that I told them it was'nt a dog, six mounths later I had obtained a mixed mutt whose ears come very close to this and no I haven't found anyothers that come close. soo ya never know whats real. By the way there is a dog with wings in the top of my "Room to Grow Piece" in the gallery.

Thanks for the story. I can't for the life of me find it at the moment, but I've actually read about dog's ears being like that. It's a rare condition in dogs, but there are dogs that have ears that go back like that. In either case, I think the ears fit the personality of the character you were trying to create. I can only imagine how impressive it must look in person. Am really glad I got the chance to see it on here, though, so thanks for sharing your talent online.

Makes me want to reach out and touch it! It looks incredibly smooth. Love the frontal view.

Ineresting comment since this is one of the few that feels to the touch the way it looks in person, cool with a river rock texture, well like a lizard turned to stone.

I've never seen this one. The front view really DOES say "Go ahead--make my day..."
What glaze did you use for the muzzle color?

I believe it was bottom of the barrel RANDY'S RED from 10yrs ago on pug clay or what ever I was handed at the time.

Damn--never seen it do that before. The mounting plate looks like the same speckled stuff on Mooney's trees....
