Description
So here's an actually relatively new piece of the three of Ariel and Eric's kids (in my AU) that I scarcely draw, though Harmony's had her share of the page recently.... Anyway. Harmony (in yellow) with her youngest siblings, Melody and Dante, whom she'd caught racing in the corridors and had been towing back to their quarters to get ready for the night's festivities, when Dante's reaction caught her by surprise. Here's a peek at the story:

"Why do you have to have a stupid cotillion anyway?"

Harmony's eyebrows shot up in surprise. Of all the things that could be bothering him, that hadn't even been on her list. "Uh... well because all girls my age have one."

"Why?" he demanded and Melody looked up at her thoughtfully too.

She sighed and looked around. Spotting a bench nearby, she pulled her youngest siblings gently to join her. Melody settled next to her and Dante climbed onto her lap. Harmony happily ignored the possibility of him ruining her new yellow gown, her siblings being far more precious in her eyes.

"A cotillion," she started, wrapping an arm around each of them, "is a ball that celebrates a girl turning sixteen—becoming a woman."

"We know that," Melody said. "It's a party so you can find a husband."

"Yes, pretty much," Harmony agreed, grinning at her sister's blunt definition and the delight she saw on the young girl's face.

"So?" Dante pressed. "You're not going to be queen, why do you need to get married?"

Harmony choked back her laughter when she saw the serious expression on her brother's face. "We'll all get married someday," she said, giving him a squeeze. "I may not ever be the queen here, but maybe the man I fall in love with will be king somewhere else. Even if he's not, I'm sure I'll be happy. I can't stay here forever, after all."

"Why not?" Dante asked and Harmony could almost see his mind recalling all of the law books he was being forced to study. "Who says you can't?"

"Oh, Dante," Harmony sighed, hugging him again.

Ta da! I'm thinking of posting this story soon, or at least after I've finished a bit more of my other stories...
