Description Oh I love the story of Peter Pan---even more with the retelling in Hook! Ok, so in case you haven't guessed yet, its the next in my Neglected Parents series. This set is the Bannings---which if you pay attention to the movie---is the name of Peter's adoptive parents in Hook. I figure if he got readopted, it might as well be by his own family. ^_^

So this particular bit is inspired by Peter's lines (in Hook): "When I was still a little boy, I missed my mother. So I decided to fly home to my very own window. But I was shocked. They'd forgotten about me..."
and from the book/play where Peter tells the story, adding: "And another little boy was sleeping in my bed!"

What Peter doesn't see is the picture of himself on the mantel. I've also decided that Christopher Robin is Peter's younger brother (hence the Winnie the Pooh and Piglet plushies). If you ask me, their parents look and aweful lot like Wendy and an older Peter....

Oh, added note---the painting on the wall is actually Arthur Hughes's "Forget Me Not" which I thought was appropriate for Mrs. Banning. ^_^ Enjoy! Next is Cinderella's parents---I PROMISE!

It would have been different if he had nicer, more loving parents.

Yep, maybe it's a good thing he was separated from them, if they didn't care after he vanished, whats to say he would have been neglected with them?

yes poor Peter.

but one thing does not make sense the story said he ran away when he was only a baby like how is that even possible.

that doesn't seem to young.

but remember in Hook with Robin Williams when adult Peter gets his memery back and remembers his past and show flashback of his backstory and remember Peter was just a baby when they reveal his Origin.

besides if Peter is was four when he ran away or when he came to Neverland how did he get older since Neverland keeps you from growing up because the Peter Pan we all know is not four years old.

To honest, I feel like he could at least talk to them to see if they really have forgotten him.

InTwilight In reply to chiaotzulover [2014-08-31 00:46:40 +0000 UTC]

Agreed, but Peter doesn't think of these things. And, really, little kids don't think of that in general. The initial reaction in your brain to seeing something that upsets you is to create your own reasoning for it before thinking of confirming with the source.

I love that you doing parents of Disney characters, and aww that's cute that Christopher Robin's is Peter's younger brother it must have been really tragic to their parents-to found out their son had just vanished.

aww thanks! I always wondered about the family members who were missing, since my own family is fairly prominent in my life. And I agree, it must have been mortifying and awful! I have no idea how they'd have gotten around it, but then again, they may not have. *hugs Peter and his family*

HOOK = AWESOMENESS

And Peter Pan is my favourite story ever told. This scene is by far the saddest is the whole story. I like to believe it's part of the reason the sweet boy turned into a careless, cocky pirate-killer. (And still keeps his charm, not everyone can do that )

Ah, Peter! If only you knew they did not forget you! You forgot them! And they must've felt just as abandoned as you did!

Thank you for making a drawing like this. His parents are surely neglected and even treated as the bad guys. They remind me a bit of Darling and Jim Dear from Lady and the Tramp, if I may say so. The background, especially the sofa looks really nice. The painting is lovely, but I feel it pulls all the attention to itself and away from your drawing. The picture on the mantel is a GREAT idea, even better since he is the only one who can't see it.

lol I totally agree, Hook is one of the best movies of all time!

Peter's always been a favorite of mine, which is problematic as it's reflecting in the men in my life...

I'm glad you like the drawing, and yeah, the painting's out of place, but let me assure you, my imitation of it failed with flying colors! lol, and yeah, I don't think there's ever been a parent who can forget their first born, and Christopher Robin being the little brother just seemed too fitting lol ^_^
