I've actually gotten them colored! took about three or for weeks to find enough scattered time to do it! Kinda makes me hate coloring again *sigh* Oh well. Anyway! If you remember the original sketch [link] This is Ariel and Eric and their children in a pose that mimics the Romanovs of Russia 
Yes I've got strange geekness
They're really kinda an entertaining family to work out, speicifically the one in green (currently named Sinfonia, because Ariel named her children musically *rolls eyes*) who takes the slightly smarter approach to a "Romeo/Juliet" situation. I was going to give Eric a goatee, but I couldn't figure-out what I liked so that'll have to wait. Now I just wonder which of the other royal families will be able to pose like what real-life portraits....So the line up (L to R): Aria, Sinfonia, Eric, Ariel, Melody, Adante (aka just Dante and the only normalish name), and Harmony

the poses belonged to the Romanovs at one point, but I'm not sure who gets those credits now

And, genetically, I think it could happen just because all of the kids have hair color varying between Black and Red---and brownish falls in there ^_^

So Ursula made herself look like Ariel's future eldest daughter before she was even born? How does that play out?

Think of it as a back up plan. There's alot of psychology that comes into play involving it, so Ursula probably intended it to be taunting initially, but also on the off chance that something went wrong the couple would be haunted by memories every time they look at their daughter. Plus, unfortunately, Aria does pick up on the off way her mother acts (even if it's mostly subconsciously) and builds her own side of the metaphorical barrier between her and her mother. Ariel loves all of her kids, of course, but if someone looked closely they'd notice she and Aria have an ever so slightly strained relationship. At some point Aria actually abdicates her title and goes off to live as a music teacher in the Magic Kingdom.Β

Oh cool lol I'll have to check those out! I've been doing the "after happily ever after" myself, as I see you've noticed lol. I just haven't gotten around to posting stories yet---at least not of the kids. ^_^ Don't feel forced to use these kids, I just couldn't help seeing Ariel and Eric mashed with the Romanovs (with happier endings...)

lol I liked the sequel more than certain other sequels Disney put out, but yeah her personality never worked correctly for me. My biggest problem being I've studied psychology lol and developmental psych was something I really connected with so I saw what they were trying to do with Melody and went "well... that would work if... You know, I think if I made her more this way..." and suddenly she had the same impish nature rumored to be a trademark of the Grand Duchess/Princess Anastasia Romanov. And the rest kinda just fell into place.
Plus, after coming from a large family that she loved and Eric being a lonely child, I highly doubt they'd have stopped at one kid.

I'm taking Psychology 101 at university, so I know what you mean about the developmental part. In my story she's kinda a recluse. Eric goes to war in my novel and the children kinda separate, Melody to the sea with her friends for comfort and Adela to the village with her own friends. They kinda live in 2 separate worlds for most of their lives 
This is true, that's why I gave them another. Ariel, being a mermaid originally, prolly would have had some complications giving birth so in mine they had to stop at 2.

Yeah, I don't think I'd thought of that lol Along with putting them parallel to the Romanovs, I kinda made it that they were determined to have a son (or at least Ariel was, Eric adores his daughters and would have been more than happy to name Aria as heir).

It is! Eric won't die, but when he comes back things are different between the family. It'll be interesting
That makes sense though. I would have had Adela be a boy but I didn't want a male version of Ariel as I've seen by some people. I just wanted a girl who would do her duty for her kingdom, even if that meant marrying an old king and leaving the man she loved behind. Plus I think Melody would make a great leader. She's smart and clear headed. What's Cinderella's son like?

Yeah, I've seen that too and it's a very bland idea, but your girl sounds like a sturdy character, probably alot like Harmony, actually.

Dorian sounds a lot like a combo of Patrick and Felix, the boys I gave Cindy. I like that idea
