Multiple Personalities?
I'm of the idea that they are two different people in the same body. At least that is how the diaries seem to frame it.
The Lisi Harrison book definitely feels more multiple personality, while the second actually mentioned a physical change, so...yay for nonconsistancy?

In the books, at least the first one, it is more like MPD.
In the second one, DJ, the book version of Holt, actually starts to manifest with a physical change and not a mental one.
