Chapter VII – Hurt

It has been two days since Zim’s near death incident, Tak has lately been staying with him and checking his wounds daily.
They both have recently been feeling strange around one another, sometimes not even speaking but just being close to each other, trying to think up a topic to speak about.
It was now Monday and they were walking from home to Skool, both nervous around one another, Tak broke the silence.
“So Zim, how’s your wound recently?” she asked nervously.
“Actually it’s going nice now, also kind of nice since you’re around too.” he said.
It made Tak smiled a little.
“How come Zim?”
“Ever since the Tallest told me I was a defective I thought everyone I known hated me and wanted nothing else but me to be destroyed, but you changed all that.” Zim said.
Tak was getting concerned as they reached Skool.
“Remember this, I’ll always be there for you.” She said, which made him smiled a little.
They both entered the classroom, which as always was Dib who was trying to expose Zim much to his failure, through the entire classroom he was bored listening to Ms. Bitters “Doom” topic, also Tak.

Later in the cafeteria Zim was sitting alone as usual, getting annoyed by Dib.
Tak was sitting on another table since Zim didn’t want Dib to get suspicious if she started being around him.
“Sooner or later I will finally stop you Zim, and get my revenge you Irken scum!” Dib kept screaming at Zim, who was trying his best just to ignore him.
Tak couldn’t bare seeing Zim insulted like that, she would try getting there and punch Dib but Zim insisted that she doesn’t get involve in this for her safety.
His insults started to get to Zim, but he know it would be pointless to fight back since he doesn’t have a mission anymore, but still he was getting hurt inside.
Finally the bell rang, which relieved both Zim & Tak., they later were walking home.
“Man was he so annoying, why couldn’t you just tell him you’re not trying to take over earth anymore?” Tak asked him angrily.
“Because I know he won’t believe me, and will think I’m up to something and will try something stupid as usual.” he said to her.
“I guess you’re right, since he is crazy as everyone says he is.” She said.
“Will see who’s crazy!” said a voice.
Before they could turn, something shot Zim onto his shoulder, which made him fell.
Tak caught him and was shocked to see him like this again.
They both turned and noticed it was Dib who did this.
“Maybe if get rid of you now, I can turn you into the Earth authorities and save the world.” Dib said in a cold voice.
“Couldn’t you just leave me alone for once!?” Zim screamed, much to his pain, Tak helped him up.
“Never, for the past three years no one will believe me anymore and it’s all your fault, and now your going to pay!” he aimed at him.
Just before Dib could pull the trigger Tak kicked the weapon away from him.
She then let Zim limped on her and they started running.
“You’re not going to get away this time!” Dib said shooting at them.
Lucky to them, they were already near Zim’s base, before they could enter they saw Dib.
He took an aim at Tak as she was trying to help Zim get inside, Zim noticed and pushed her out of the way, making Dib shoots him instead on leg.
Tak quickly helped Zim get inside and activated the gnome security to fend away Dib.

They were both panting inside.
“That was close!” Tak said gasping.
She then saw Zim trembling, noticing he’s been shot on both his shoulder and leg.
“Zim, you’re hurt.” She said while rushing to him.
“I’m ok Tak, it’s not that much.” He said while trying to get up.
“Please don’t hurt yourself even more.” She was getting worried again for him.
“I’m fine Tak, don’t worry, I’m going to my lab to get patched up.” He said while limping to the elevator.
“Need any help Zim?” she asked.
Zim smiled to her before entering.
“Don’t worry Tak I’m fine, stay here and watch tv or something, I’ll be right back.” He said while smiling, which made Tak felt a little better.
As he left, she sat on the couch alone, trying to sort out these feelings she has for the irken.
She rested her head on the pillow of the couch and started daydreaming about Zim, blushing & smiling a little.
