Description
He is responsible. That is what he tells himself each evening when he emerges ill-rested from slumber, and it is his internal mantra when he throws himself deeper into his work.He is responsible, and he must fix it.
She is quiet. She is still coming to terms, and her silence kills him. He longs to hear her laugh again, to prattle on about rocks and dirt and old bones pressed into undiscovered recesses and why those things are exciting instead of ridiculous. He longs to see her smile.
He is responsible, he tells himself. He must fix it.
Many of his solutions are only temporary. They stir her from reticence for short moments, ones that dig at him only a little less.
One day, he will find the solution that sticks.
One day, he will fix everything.

This was actually in answer to some shenanigans in my Ask box on Tumblr, but the result was so nice, I wanted to clean it up and post it here, too. I'm not sure which one works better! I'm just happy it works out of context.

I don't know if you ever plan on putting this in its glorious entirety on deviantArt, but until then, I'm kind of awkwardly edging in a comment on a preexisting deviation. :S
You are a master of imagination and emotion. After I've flipped through one of your storyboard comics once, I have to go back several times just to re-experience the gestures and faces. I really like how words are rendered unnecessary because the pictures alone are so telling. I also enjoy how laughs are pretty much a guarantee with you (when you haven't your heart set on breaking ours, at least)! The "why the other would be a terrible matesprit" and "buckets" "X!!" "BUCKETS" "X!!!" were ..just... 
And question: Why does Ebonveil not have a right sleeve? I'd thought it was a mistake at first, but it shows up consistently in her costume, so I'm curious!

Thank you very much! I don't think I'd call myself a master; I feel like I'm learning something new every time I draw another comic. Sometimes I feel like I'm relearning everything I ever thought I knew.
The Intimate Question comic is the closest to how I actually draw non-fandom comics. Wordless speech bubbles are a huge area of experimentation for me, and I love working with them. They force the viewer to think and interpret and impose their own experiences, and because they are so open to interpretation, I have to be very careful with body language and juxtaposition in order to get across the right message. That's why I focus so much on emotion and expression: they are literally the pillars of my storytelling style! So I'm really, really glad they're coming across well.
And I love using humor. Life is full of hilarity, and I have a hard time taking things too seriously. It provides a pretty useful contrast for when I do introduce something serious, too. Because I love inducing mood whiplash.
Ebonveil's costume is based almost solely on Indiana Jones . I keep tweaking the details every time I draw her, but I try to keep it mostly consistent. She wears a vest and gloves when she's going more formal. In the two most recent comics, she's without either due being in a more informal setting.

Invalidgriffin, you MADE this ship for me. Before, it was just kind of a back-burner, half-mentioned item in the grand scheme of the ancestor's tales in Homestuck. But you really breathed life into Darkleer, and created something solid and believable and completely sweet for Aradiacestor, and it just became so beautiful... You art is gorgeous, your creativity is astounding. Thank you.

I will admit that I have not actually seen the rest of the fandom! I am a little bit sheltered in that regard, since I don't venture out very far past the art forums.

My goodness, have you even touched the image boards? Your art is all over it, including your tumblr pics! You even have your own tag! Here, [link] . It's pretty safe, just avoid octopole's art - you'll be able to tell they're his by the fact that they are stomach-wrenching-ly revolting and often nightmare-inducing. =_=;;;Though, it's odd, I really have yet to poke around the art forums. All of that aside, the whole point was that if you have a ridiculous obsession, then we're gonna need to make new, more potent words to describe the state of some individuals of the fandom!

I have seen the image boards, actually! I love the anon comments on my stuff; I think they are hilarious, even if the conversations get a little weird sometimes!
(I also noticed that my art makes up 100% of the Aradiacestor tag. "Oh sweet, they finally have a tag for Aradia's ancestor, I wonder if anyone else has been drawing hOH GOD IT'S ALL ME ;__; ")
And actually, I've seen octopole's art! I find Retirementhomestuck strangely funny. I admit I laughed way too hard when they did a parody of In Lesbians.
The MSPA art forums are filled with a lot of really nice, super talented people, and it's always nice to see others commenting in the art threads there. I try to make it a point to leave comments when I can, because I know getting nice feedback means a lot to some artists.
I'm gonna admit I'm afraid to look at the fans you're talking about. I'm having a hard time imagining obsessions of greater intensity. Actually, no, I can kind of begin to imagine it, and it's already starting to scare me.

Seriously, your art is fantastic and your username is well-known enough to be mentioned and recognized in casual conversation about Homestuck art (these are the kinds of casual conversations I engage in, naturally). At the very least, I can spazz at my roommate, "Sarah, invalidgriffin is talking to me on deviantart!" and she will respond, "OHMIGAWD, THAT'S SO COOL!!! Well, shucks, it's about time we got a figure of political leadership up in this biznasty - I was starting to wonder where my hard-earned tax dollars were going.
