Description When I first started photo manipulation I had a little trouble figuring put how to use the paths tool to cut out object in Gimp so I decided I'd make a tutorial. Hopefully it'll help! (:

Please comment if this helped you and share some of the works you created using this tutorial, I love to see them and fav them! You can also note or comment if your have issues, I'd be happy to help. (:

What do you do if you don't want a background?

You can just paste it onto a blank background instead of onto another picture, if that makes sense.

Uh i love this tut but when i paste it on a new piece on gimp, it has a yellow box around it that won't go away. why?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

InvisionStudios In reply to AF-Kay [2011-10-17 21:46:31 +0000 UTC]

It might just be because that's a new layer and the edges of all the layers are outlined in a yellow dashed outline. I think that's probably what it is and when you merge them together, save, etc. It won't be there, it's imaginary when your done. If that's not it or your not sure you can send me a screen shot and i'll take a look (:

I use to use the eraser tool but using the paths tool just makes the cut so much cleaner (:
