I feel like the phrase "I Love You" means less and less everyday. Nobody really knows what it means anymore. Nobody understands all of the implications that linger behind that three word, eight lettered phrase. And I'm not saying I do understand them all. I just know that those words aren't something to be tossed around with no regard.-
This is a shorter poem than what I usually write, and it is not an adaptation. This one is completely new and the first time it is appearing in my gallery is with this typographic background. I titled it "Between The Pages" because that is where I found the inspiration for this - between the pages of a dictionary.
The font that I used is called "Times New Yorker", which is basically a grunge "Times New Roman". Genius.

I agree with you that "I love you" seems to mean less now. The problem, in my opinion, that it's tossed around so casually that it's used as a synonym for crushes or obsessions, the things we feel when we're kids. I'm not saying that I've never used it jokingly before - I'll say "I love you" to a fictional character out of mirth. But when you say it to another, real person, you should think very carefully before you say it. It's not something that should be said when you want to get in bed with someone, and it's not something you can say after 3 dates. I'm still rather confused about it, though, since I think I'm falling in love with someone whom I am certain I love. The two things are so convoluted. Great piece!

I've seen it also defined as a mental illness, which I can kind of agree with. I like the definitions you have listed, as well as the poem (I can almost hear someone reciting it to great dramatic effect). Overall, I'd say good job! You definitely got the message across, and in a visually appealing way. I particularly like the shade of red chosen, it matches the subject matter (to me, anyway).
You're absolutely right about the phrase not meaning much anymore, in my own experience I have found it means absolutely nothing (not to say that that is always the case). When something is said so many times, and with so little thought or dedication behind it or occasion to necessitate it, it does lose meaning.
To me it's the same as telling the same joke over and over; eventually we all stop laughing.

I originally heard it as a song while I was writing it, too... I just didn't know how to follow up the best line I've ever written: That's the dictionary definition; that's "I Love You" defined... and so it remained as this. Thank you very much

:3 Thank you, this is a common problem these days. I really dislike it when people say "I love you" and don't mean it or use it incorrectly or simply abuse it. I feel like you should have made the words look faded because the book pages look fairly old. I like it, especially the not kissing the person good bye because you don't want to let go part. <3
