Description
I've had this boring looking erebus reference sheet around for a bit, and I decided to upload it.
Some aspects of the erebus aren't so important, like the thickness of the ears determining gender, that's just something I do.
Erebus belong to I Irabus
Common traits are free for anyone to draw, but erebus with rarer traits tend to be customs or adoptables.
Erebus are a mimicking species, and they can change their physical appearance and colour to resemble things they see. It's a part of their hunting technique, luring curious adults and children, gaining their trust or outright killing them. They don't eat the body, but instead collect the soul. They store human souls in their throat, eventually emptying them into the hollow of a tree, which will take them to "The Pale Between" which is kinda like a purgatory.
The more talented erebus can take human forms, becoming what I call ereladies and ereboys. They don't look very human, and still have their mask, ears and tail.
Less experienced erebus just create a random pattern on themselves and hope it attracts something. Older, more confident erebus don't even use their mimicry, and simply attack.
A lot of erebus have a favourite set of colours or animal they like to mimic, and often stick to it.
Erebus that aren't mimicking are a solid black. Erelits (Erebus cubs) are all black, because they haven't learned to mimic.
Attributes:
Wolf-life form
Long, black velvety ears
All erebus originate from a single erebus called Ereliste or "Mother" or "The Original"
Young erebus are called erelits
Behavior:
Erebus are generally very hostile
They do not have packs, and are lone, wandering creatures
Erebus reproduce my a male and a female merging two human souls together, which in turn creates an erebus soul, which is broken and mangled
Erebus are born to kill, but an erebus can be good if taken away from its mother. If an erebus sees its reflection at a young age, it is able to act out of orders
Erebus females take care of the erelit for about three weeks. Then she leaves them to manage on their own after she has taught them how to hunt
Sub-Species CLOSED:
- Erstewhile are defective erebus. They are larger and stronger. They have fur going over their masks and they have coloured eyes
- Dark erebus are a much more powerful erebus. They can easily change their colours and form. Their masks are inverted (white on black)
-

How large are Elelits and Erebuses compared to humans? I'm interested in making an Erebus and I was curious.

I don't have a clear chart for this, but an erebus starts about the size of a large wolf! They can become much bigger if they eat the flesh of other creatures (though they don't need to, if they don't they just will stay the same size unless they're an erelit). An erelit would be about the size of a wolf pup, but they grow quite rapidly so won't stay small for long!

Ok, thanks! Also, um, is it okay to style or theme an Erebus after a character from media, like from a movie, book, or somewhere on the Internet? I ask because I think the Erebus would be fitting for a certain character I know.

Um, are we free to make our Erebus a Dusk or Dawn Erebus? And is there any color that an Erebus CAN'T be?
