Thank you. You can't really tell from this angle, but I originally started photographing it because it looked like a kitty.

Oh dear... I'll upload and show you one from the other angle when I get home on Monday. But you can kinda see the nose at the tip, with it's little kitty-shape.

What a great shot.

What do people use for the background in shots like this?

White printer paper. At least... that's what I used. I had to mask off the strawberry in photoshop and take up the contrast, though, because the white balance didn't do so well, so the background turned out slightly blue. Plus, the strawberry juiced all over my paper while I was arranging it and photographing, so I had to take out spots, too.

I use lots of random things as backgrounds... shirts, a skirt, sheets... although, I'd recommend a test shot, 'cause once I shot a totally awesome photo that I was completely incapable of duplicating, but when I opened it large, I discovered that the black fabric I had used had reflective fibers in it, so I spent forever restoring the background to a true black.

How simple!

I'll have to try it, once I get something to take a picture of.

oh, btw... I saw someone else describing how they got their background, and they said that they used white paper and jiggled it so that they would get a nice clean white. I've tried that since, but I'm not sure I see a difference in the amount of photoshop work I have to do after...

Jiggled?

Yeah, like... they take a longer exposure, and then wiggle the paper while it's going so that there's not specific spots that show up in the photo.

Yah, I've tried lots of things because I sit at my desk and think things like... "Well, should I do work, or should I take a picture of this gigantic strawberry that I got from the dining hall? " and it's easier for me to do stuff at my desk on a small scale than to go out on a photography adventure when I'm supposed to be working.

It's good to see that strawberries win out.
