I think the Phantom of the Opera is the kind of story that you come to appreciate more as you grow up. It's really hard to comprehend the relationship Christine has with Erik with sound logic even now, but I think that's the point of the story. Logic has no place in the matters of love...that's probably what my Literature teacher would have told me.
And I'd ask, "Do they even love each other? The guy is just obsessed with the girl, and the girl fears the guy 99% of the time."
