I actually slept there one night back in like 96 I think when I took an uncharted and not designated time-frame roadtrip. Noccalula Falls has a special place in my heart because of that trip/

Awesome! Dad used to have full run of the place when he was little. His house was not to far from there.

Ha, funny seeing this here. I grew up not too far from gadsden and I visited the falls many times. It's a beautiful story that I remember well and a great photo to capture it. It's good to see Noccalula again and the "bee tree" in the background.

Ooh I didn't know it was called the bee tree. What is the story about that??
Nice to meet somebody from Alabama on DA

I remember the second tall tree in the background always had a little wooden sign nailed on it that said "bee tree". I assume it had a honeybee hive somewhere in it at some point in time, although I never saw any bees near it.
It's a small world, huh?

I'll have to look for it and see if the sign is still there

I'll be bawling in a minute! The story reminds me a little of a scene near the end in "Last of the Mohicans", where the girl steps away from Magua and over the edge of the cliff to her death... that always gets to me, and I've watched that movie a dozen times at least.
Your photographs are coming on in leaps and bounds, good work

Haha awww don't cry
This is the town, well city, that my dad was raised in and I was born there. My Mom lived there for a while too.
It's also the start or the end (depending on whether your coming or going ) Of the Appalachian mountains.
Thanks so much for the comment on my photos It's really helped getting on here and seeing what everybody is doing..and that the everyone I've met so far on DA has been really cool and willing to help you learn new techniques.
