Sometimes I want to capture the allure of innocence, like a dove unaware of the storm's approach. That was me, naively stepping into the night, my lack of flight seen as a charm to the weathered eyes around. In time, I became the storm, and I wonder, have I let a fledgling dove wander into my tempest without a thought? I yearn to say I haven't, but the night's shadows are too deep for such certainty, and young doves do all they can to appear more than they are. Did I catch a furtive glance of innocence on her face as she blundered to seduce me? Dare I admit to myself?
