This is an attempt to redesign Red Thunder from Mega Man X: Unit 49 to better match with the design patterns of the X series and to look less like The Flash.Coincidentally, I posted his previous artwork one year ago. You can read his bio there too.
That's a drastic change in his palette, because I realized he had way too similarities with Flash (DC) and a color scheme very close to Zero. Since the lightning bolts released by him are actually rose, I made an inversion so the bolt details are in the right color instead of gold. I've been wanting to give him a better name, but was not able to come up with anything so far. What do you think?
This redesign might be implemented in the comics in Season 3, as him and other Maverick Hunters will receive upgrades.

The redesign is soooo much more unique. I dig it, especially the way his hair pieces connect and the color scheme.

The new hair had to look like the original, but no longer made of indestructible hair strands like Zero's (I'm pretty sure they keep shining beautiful and intact no matter how much damage he has taken), so I got some inspiration from Pallette's mechanical hair. I'm glad you like it!

Mechanical hair is very neat. It gives them a much more artificial look even if they are shaped alot like a human. Pallettes hair is amazing. Good inspiration!

Maybe when I'm on my college vacation. Currently I'm only able to make one or two of those drawings by month, and they were made with a different method that ends up less polished than a 100% digital art like this . I was planning to draw a bunch of Mavericks from the SYM along with other bad guys from the army, I could include him.
