Description
I already used the title "Annunciation" for another picture, so I thought of this one. Anyhow, the theme is the same. The painting was executed by Guido Reni in about 1629.
"And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women." (Luke 1:28)
Location: Louvre, Paris, France.
Thank you for your appreciation. I'm aware of the fact that all honor is deserved by the painter, and not by me.

I'm glad that you like it.
It's interesting to see how people prefer this painting to the other one painted by Vasari ...

This is a pattern that Reni was obliged to follow.

I'm sorry i'm looking at it in a spiritual way.

Don't let details like this prevent you from doing so. Just go on, beyond the details to reach the tenderness that Reni expresses in his painting!
Just comparing with my other deviation "Annunciation" shows a lot of changes: From the opacity of the body (no matter if a human being is shown or an angel) to the lightness of Reni's painting. Vasari's angel is kneeling, Reni's angel is flying.
Reni's angel is almost bodiless compared with Vasari's angel, and thus he is more shown like a spiritual being. So please don't close your mind, just because something is not written in the Bible.

... and he is not only flying, because he has got wings. Maybe his huge wings were just a consequence to the bodiless impression, Reni wanted to create by the painting of his angel.

There are Three Great Rs of the Baroque period: Rembrandt, Reni and Rubens.
