the HDR has done what a simple retouch photo of this bridge couldn't. Bought out all the nuances and textures...great perspective too

Do ya think it could be "unraped" ?

Need more detail

I can see you've tried your best to get the white spots out of the sky, but its the colours its left behind in the process.. I'd maybe select the sky, and either play with the colour levels to find something more natural, or remove the colour completely and play with the hue/saturation!

irwingcommand In reply to danUK86 [2010-08-19 20:58:49 +0000 UTC]

I took out the white sky, but didn't want to mess with the colour to much in case I lost what so many people appear to like about the image.

Tough call between this and the B&W version. The B&W has nice tones and contrast but the rusty rails in the color won out. Nice converging lines on both.

You really have a very good eye. This is a wonderful image that tells a story. It has good color saturation, nice contrast and a delightful point of view. Have you considered this as a BW with some punched up contrast? I love the dramatic sky.

Was this a multi-exposure HDR, or done in editing? Either way it's awesome! I was just curious, because my HDR photos don't come out with that much clarity or detail. I wonder if I'm using too many exposures. Or I just don't know what the hell I'm doing.

irwingcommand In reply to RaySark [2010-04-26 11:48:10 +0000 UTC]

I usually take three or five exposures, this was a five.
and then some later editing in CS4.

I love how you caught the sky in this one. Somehow, it just seems to "go" with the rest of the photo quite nicely. Great angle as well!

I get a lot of practice with skies like this, Manchester rarely has a cloudless sky.

It helps that it is completely fenced off and over a canal. I shot this through a fence similar to the one in the background.

It may be a coincidence or actually named after it, Bridgewater is a large area of Manchester.

Faved it ... drama = something to my mind from the colour and subject ... something could be "going on" there ? Maybe ?
