"Taking after 's epic image (in more ways than one), is this shot from the rear of LNER Class K4 2.6.0 61994 "The Great Marquess", emptying three cylinders worth of condensate through her drain cocks upon departure from Buckley Wells sidings at the start of her day on the East Lancashire Railway, Bury, UKBlack & White Version.

If you hadn't said it was taken recently, I would have called this a perfect picture from the 1950s. As it is, it is a perfect picture of a heritage steam locomotive.

This shot is beautifully composed. The steam adds to the effect, and creates a wonderful sense of motion. You can really tell that the train is about to depart. The human element of this piece is what really makes it powerful. It turns a picture of a train into something that people can all relate to. In effect, it allows you to place yourself in the spot of one of the engineers. This makes it all the more visually interesting. Overall, nice job at turning a common subject into an uncommonly good image.
