Beware!we thought the same about Brush type 4s or Class 47s in the early 70s,now we look on them as celebrities,Are today's sheds tomorrow's "Black Fives(841 Built) or Dub Ds(W.D. 2-8-0s 732 Built)? Being an ex apprentice of English Electric I will alway's come down on the side of the classic class 37's

Class 37/9? Weren't they meant to be Maintenance Ones and then renumbered 97s?

All six Class 37/9s were in Railfreight Grey livery and operated as part of the British Rail Heavy Metals sector.
The yellow ones are 37100, 37170, 37178 and 37217 now numbered 97301, 97302, 97303 and 97304.

Preserved Railways need to save these locos (to be hired), before DB Shenker scraps them all.
I agree that its the way ahead, but they shouldn't have needed to be Preserved in the first place, its obvious from this event that the are still excellent runners.
