Great composition and amazing rendering!
Just few comments, of course I'm not seeing your reference/model so I can't judge perfectly. These are just a few things that are standing out to me and I'm basically just nitpicking, hopefully to your benefit.
The pupil seems to get lost, almost blend in with with the Iris. I think the values are too similar, maybe darken the pupil a bit?
The sharp highlight line on the bottom of the scalera (white of the eye) seems a little out of place. With your light source above and to the right, that part of the eye would curve under and away from the light. I don't think that would be your hot spot, more so the top of the lower lid.

The white highlight at the lower edge of the sclera is reflection from the meniscus formed by the film of tears on the eye. It's usually the brightest because its specular reflectivity is very high. It's not seen so markedly in the young, but in older eyes where the tears do not drain from the eye so quickly, or in eyes which are filling with tears its there. There's a small one on this pic [link] , and a big one in this pic [link] . Sorry for external links

I knew something like that happens with tears, but I wasn't aware that that much liquid is still there when not tearing. I guess it's something one would only really see in an extreme close up such as this. Very interesting.

amazing! I have to ask, how did you pull off creating the wrinkles???
π: 0 β©: 1
IsabelleMaria In reply to just-scream-baby [2010-07-17 07:52:11 +0000 UTC]
first, I did some soft lines for where the wrinkles were supposed to be and then I wanted them to phase a little to the side, so that the wrinkles get some depth..
I kinda made my hand shake when I did that, cause by doing that the wrinkles get more natural..

You've done an amazing job on this! The eye itself looks so wet and realistic. The wrinkles must have been so difficult. Great job!
