Description
“You do not know what your life is nor what you are doing nor who you are”
-The Bacchae, Euripides, 405 BC
I finally drew my favourite Greek God, Dionysus, the God of wine with some Maenads (his female worshippers)! This piece was inspired by Euripides' Bacchae (a great read, I would recommend). I liked the scene where the messenger described the Maenads chilling and letting loose so I wanted to do something similar.

Oh man thank you so much Jaz, I'm really glad you like it! I tried my the best for Dionysus because I wouldn't want to end up like Pentheus :0

Dionysus would have provided many warnings regardless - you have shown your reverence wisely lmao

This is great! I think my favourite part is the tired but enamoured look on the face of the Maenad on the bottom right - really captures the exhausting but exhilarating nature of Dionysus's worship!

Oh thank you, what a lovely comment! This really made me smile What I really love about Dionysiac worship and Dionysus is general is how oxymoronic it is. Both restricting and liberating, exhausting and exhilarating etc.. I'm glad I was able to somewhat capture this sentiment in this piece.
