Description This dude, Needed some help on his 3d model so i figured HEY! this is a good chance to make a tutorial! This is part 2!

(i apologize in advance for typos and spelling errors XD)

Modeling anime faces can be confusing even if you've modeled a human face before. Conventional methods like working form a square simply might not work. My method is more free form, and permits awkward forms easily, at least to me anyway.

This tutorial doesn't explain what the topology rules 'are' just my process for modeling them on an anime character. The source material comes from an awesome tutorial Phung Dinh Dzung. I suggest you read that tutorial before doing this tutorial.

This should be all most people need but part 2 will go into the model further forming the skull, eyes, and clean up...

WOW! Now I understand how my friend makes this process, I did a drawing for him to create a 3D model. Very nice results. Will you work with game development?

Will you be a game designer?

To be honest, I'm not sure yet

I haven't found that single one thing I'd like to do yet.

I'd love to work in game design though.

But otherwise i guess you can say I'm just kinda going with the flow for now.

I'm a noob, just getting into 3d models.
so i need help.

I actually do have plans to do more on this, i know the subject is challenging because the style normally isn't made for 3d.

though i can't say they'll be beginner tutorials, there's to much to explain right here if i got into to much detail.

so think of my future tutorials as guides rather than a full step by step .

yet i gladly answer any questions you have!

FireAnonymous [2011-09-03 04:46:50 +0000 UTC]

actually, using sphere with more vertical at one point like that is very annoying, using some Ben Mathis(google) technique in creating sphere for eye ball then applying texture and move it like this:
[link] ---mario head.
Well, that's my opinion, but using two layer is also a good idea, i will try.
BTW, If you could, please tell me about anime character lips, it really really hard. All i can do by myself:[link] .Thanks a lot.

Saeblundr In reply to FireAnonymous [2011-09-04 23:45:28 +0000 UTC]

to animate / pose an eye that is oddly shaped can be hard, another method is to use the sphere, but apply a lattice modifier to get the elongated shape you want. this lets you rotate the eyeball as though it were a sphere, but it will keep its shape and orientation correctly

IsiacDaGraca In reply to FireAnonymous [2011-09-03 05:37:04 +0000 UTC]

hmmm, i have no idea how do that in blender. though I'd rather not use a texture personally, it comes out looking too flat imo.

When modeling lips you have to under stand some things look better as a drawing than they do in 3d. you can change features and still have the same character.

so feel free to take a few liberties and experiment.

[link]

you know what lips are supposed to look like, try and apply it. 2d artists even occasionally add lips.

the effect can be subtle yet effective.

why the vertex size is so high, how you did?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IsiacDaGraca In reply to jesaro17 [2011-09-02 14:26:33 +0000 UTC]

In 'user preferences', under 'themes', then choosing '3d view', then at the bottom vertex size!

i found that specifically for this tutorial

I'm working on the head, things in your guide aren't as clear as they could be, but I think I'm getting there... I'm on part 2 now

IsiacDaGraca In reply to TheRamosOnline [2011-09-02 19:47:46 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, i was worried about that.

I didn't want to make the tutorial too long, just try and figure things out.

even while i was making this a good bit of trial and error was needed XD.

TheRamosOnline In reply to IsiacDaGraca [2011-09-02 20:31:00 +0000 UTC]

I may even be completely bad and ask you for the head's Blend file, and credit you for helping me with the modelling until I can get my own one done.
When I get around to it, the style I wanna do is this > [link]
It looks a lot easier and simpler than what I was originally doing, and uses textures instead of mouth and eyes, ect.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IsiacDaGraca In reply to TheRamosOnline [2011-09-02 20:37:45 +0000 UTC]

that's an extremely low poly method.

If you have no intention of animating the characters face then sure, go for it.

also i put up a topology tips tutorial which ought to help you with the body.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheRamosOnline In reply to IsiacDaGraca [2011-09-02 20:45:18 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I'm not really interested in Animation as of yet.

If you could fire any pointers for low poly models (that you might find in a DS game or something) then fire away!
