Description In my long career, sat at the left hand of the God-Emperor, I have been granted many, many honors for valor, bravery, etc...
Nah, who am I kidding. These are black market relics, stolen from tombs and private museums, to be sold on to wealthy, but discreet, collectors in the spires and palaces of the Calaxis sector.

==========================================

So this is the full collection of Purity Seals I have made along with a Commissars cap badge.
I repainted my first couple and have recently created four more. Looking at them its pretty easy to see the different 'generations' but they get better as they go along so I'm not complaining!
Not sure what to do with them so I'll probably put together a box frame and stick 'em up on the wall.

Not sure what to do with them? Heresy! Is that not MY cap badge, and some of MY purity seals (ordered by me, I mean - made by you). Seriously, those is my property. Others must order their own

Happy to share!

Once I decided on the design I either cut it out of plasti-card or molded it out of Fimo and attached it to a flat base . With the plasti-card it was possible to build more complex designs by layering but the Fimo gives a better 3d look.

When it was all dry I fitted a tube over the design, coated the whole thing in Vaseline and poured plaster of paris into it.
Break open the tube after it dries and you have a stamp with a negative of the original design.

Next, take whatever you want the seal to be made out of (I used Fimo or clay) and form a round disc about 1/2 - 1cm thick. Coat the bottom of the seal with Vaseline and press it into the disc.
Play around with the edges till you're happy with the shape and then fire/set/etc.

Once solid, undercoat the seal in black and working with a couple shades of red, drybrush until you're happy with the look. Then to finish it get the Vaseline once more and rub a little into the surface. This gives it a nice waxy look without overdoing it like gloss varnish.

Add scrolls and call it a day!

Very cool, thanks!
You don't have any problems baking the fimo casts with vaseline on them? I can't imagine you could clean if off well enough before baking because its so soft.

I can't wait to try this out; I've been thinking of making a Dark Angels banner, I think a couple of these would look great on it.

Thanks again!

You're right about the difficulties in trying to clean them but thankfully the vaseline didn't seem to affect them at all.

Are you planning a full size banner? That would be something special!

yea, I'm sure others have done it as well, but I got the idea from a guy called "jawaballs". You can do a youtube search on him. He's made a couple so far, they look pretty cool.

Best of luck with your banner.

Skully in the center's new! Can we make a room just full of move and gaming relics? I mean, if the whole house didn't turn into that already.

You should do one entirely covered in some sort of machine code, with the Mechanicus seal.

Not a bad idea. I was thinking of replacing the ones on my laptop and that would be very appropriate. Might even lend the Machine-God's blessing to it

Neat-o. You should do medals of valor that can be pinned to clothing.

I was thinking about making some 40k medals. Now I'm just keeping an eye out for interesting bits to make them out of.
