Description Before I go further I must say that I really, really sucked at driving Mako in Mass Effect. But still - think about it. Drop-off from several hundred metres? No problem, Mako's springs won't even squeak. Driving on planets of extreme heat or cold or even ones covered by water? Big deal. Managed to flip your vehicle upside down or have a steep mountain to go over? Worry not, laws of physics won't apply to Mako.
And then again, there's my car. During summer it's like sauna on wheels. Driving on a pitted sand road makes it bump and tremble so much that sometimes I worry whether I'm leaving a trail of car parts behind me. And during past few weeks I haven't been able to open any doors because they're frozen shut - to open driver's side door I literally have to throw myself against the door several times and every time I'm afraid I will break the handle. I don't even bother to talk about snow and all the trouble it has been causing.
Seriously, I'd give a kingdom for a real-life M-35 right now. Failing that, a heated garage would be a very viable option, too.

EDIT: As if all that wasn't enough just today my car refused to start altogether. Dead battery, apparently. Aaand I have no way to charge it since the hood is frozen shut. Oh boy, how I love Finnish winter sometimes...

that is the 3rd reason why I don't drive IRL. 1st being the I'm scared shitless of driving after watching horrifying car crashes on TV and the 2nd being I'm way too busy playing video games to dive myself.

there's a good one in kingdoms of amalur, when you save a gnome from a curse he'll be like "by my beard, you saved me" in a strong scot accent

ThewarriorDraganta In reply to vampireheromage [2014-12-04 23:02:30 +0000 UTC]

"By my beard" is more of a dwarf saying rather then gnome.

there isn't and dwarves in the games. 2 classes of humans (barbarian and pirate), 2 elven (aristocratic dark elves and religious light elves) and the gnomes. the 2 castes of fae, summer and winter

I managed to squeeze the mako through a tiny canyon on Therum so I could use it to rescue Liara. My poor mother is watching me wiggle this four ton truck through a tiny gap. she asks me, "Why dont you just get out of the truck and walk the rest of the way?" my response; "No way! there's a geth battalion on the other side of this ridge, no way i am going through that without the heavy cannons on the mako"

she shook her head and muttered while she walked away. i moved my xbox and tv into my room shortly thereafter.

Raven: Mako: Confirmed as a machine that's designed to defy every single one of the laws of physics in the universe. And somehow, the humans managed to make it. On their own. So how come they can't beat the Reapers?

turwaithi3l [2013-12-24 02:47:26 +0000 UTC]

Yep. I completely identify.

I mean, I was terrible at driving the Mako (and really, who is?), but that thing could take a beating! (Not to mention it was really amusing to imagine the conversations between my FemShep and poor Kaidan and Liara, who inevitably get treated to Natasha's horrible driving skills...) I don't have many problems with my car, because it essentially IS a civilian-approved version of the Mako, but I kinda still want one anyway.

What I imagined going on inside Mako with any companion while I was playing:

"Hmm.. we're in kind of a hurry..." *drives towards a cliff*
"Shepard?"
*drives faster*
"Shepard?!"
*makes the car jump from the cliff*
"SHEPAAAAAARD!!"
*THUD! Lands after a fall of 100 meters or so* "What? I didn't even flip the vehicle."
"Why? For the love of all that's good WHY we let you drive, again?"

Needless to say, I loved Mako, driving it was fun as hell<3 I was actually pretty sad to see it break in the end :/

Yeah but in the codex entry for the MAKO, it says that it's Element Zero core lowers it's mass so it's able to survive large drops. (something like that) Still it is ridiculous when you're driving up a vertical cliff... I hated the mako. Nice job bty.

I've all but finished Mass Effect 2, and my favorite characters are Garrus Vakarian and Tali'Zorah. Garrus is straightforward and usually has something funny to say, while Tali is easy to read and has something about her that makes spending time with her feel rewarding. (Also, Russian accent? Totally hot. )

Isriana In reply to Spazkid1997 [2013-05-10 07:18:14 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, Garrus is probably my favorite character in ME2. (At this point I must also add that I have yet to do the final quest, so I don't know how the game actually ends. I've been trying to avoid any spoilers about the ending since I intend to play both ME2 and ME3 this summer... )
