I really love the colors here all the blues, cyans and pinks work so nicely together and create this lovely magical nightly atmosphere. The characters seem to friendly with one another andI like how you’ve placed them next to each other. They seem like sitting up rather straight instead of being fully
relaxed, but general proportions look good.
The thing I think this piece needs a little work on is the perspective. As a matter of fact from the thumbnail I first thought they are sitting on top of some huge cloud, but I assume it’s supposed to be water. Instead of looking flat the water appears solid. The water lily leaves and the grass should givemore hint of the viewing angle and some horizon would also do the trick – at the moment everything looks more or less flat. Using perspective grid while drawing helps a lot to create depth into the image.
Painting water is always tricky you have a nice color going on – the pond lacks texture though. Adding white highlights and splashes or waves often helps to create more water-like feel. Also I think their feet should be visible under the water (which can easily be done with transparent layers).
All in all – very cute piece <3

thank you for your comments ^^
well you might be surprised when Im telling you that at first I wanted the "lake" to have.. uh... solidified effect or something? XD Like a magical water that is not water. But I know it's a mistake because water is water afterall.
Thank you for pointing that out and thank you for the advices <3

Even if it was more solid (which idea I totally like) perhaps some ripples would still give it more life,
it doesn't have to be much :3

That is a good idea to have incorporated them into this specific background, it fits them really well and the general art is really amazing

Heya ^^, saw you posted this to ProjectComment, ah stopped by for a critique ^^, now I love the idea you had with this piece, the glowing lake and the dark forest are two massive complements that go well together, the lake glows blue and also compliments the colour of the characters, now the best part is the glowing effect you also added to the mushrooms, they jump out at the viewer effectively like the lake and give more then just a black canvas, we can also accurately see the lighting hitting the characters well, especially Ralsei and Susie, the simple and nice patterns of what we see here are a nice theme, not only this but the lake has been really really well shaded to the characters, now.. like always theres things to improve ^^, first off the anatomy of the characters, I guess this was your style so take this with a pinch of salt but I think the height especially of Ralsei needs to be adjusted, remember to make it interesting and give your characters a line of action (typically an 'S' shape) to make them pop out more (in 3D as well) ah.. Susie also looks like her jaw could be improved, typically she has kinda a shark-like snout with more of a curve, so it leads up instead of forming more of a solid jaw, also I would like to point out the landscape looks a bit of an odd angle and is a little bit misaligned with the characters, its not too much though, but keep in mind where the vanishing point or camera angle would be, ah and when you are comfortable you can add more shading, that is up to you though, over all I love this piece, great work, and keep it up, dont let the downsides get to you ^^

Thank you for the critics, compliments and suggestions <3 I really appreciate it.
Yes for the anatomy part, this is my first time drawing DELTARUNE characters and I was kinda confused with Susie's (though I have searched her images online but still could not quite catch her parts). I had fixed her several times but it seemed like she was still lacking some of her features. Also I made a mistake with Ralsei's lines (especially his scarf) and just noticed it after a long time. I also forgot to search about their difference in heights and when I realized that I could only cry and laugh because of how wrong it turned out XD. I also agree with their body angle. I should have decided their angle first before drawing their full body.
Anyways Im glad you like the scenery because I too am satisfied with the result <3
Hope I could get better with my future works.
Thank you again!
