“My ultimate goal was to make this manga look as “shoujo” as possible and when I realized that I didn’t actually need to buy overpriced screen tones online, but could achieve the same effect by adding them in digitally, I knew I could pull it off.”
All jokes aside, the whole process of creating this was so much fun! (ㆁᴗㆁ✿) The idea came out of nowhere after I had basically devoured a ton of shoujo manga while being sick at home. It all went pretty smoothly after that, although page three looked way different in my first draft.
As for the flowers… I looked at many different - even exotic - ones to draw on the last page, but ended up drawing wild roses because they’re so widely known to symbolize love and adoration. (And because they’re pretty.)

Drawn on paper, inked with India ink markers, typesetting and everything else done with Photoshop 7.0. All the screen tones I’ve used come from this site .
