Sometimes you have to scare kids to protect them. I mean without fear uou have idiot brats playing c hi icon with a train.

I say alot of kids dont know what they have. There is nothing in this world more painful than a parent vanishing from your life.

At the same time though the idea that if a teen complains about ANYTHING its just them being "Angsty, bitchy, hormonal etc." is also damaging for teens that actually do have problems with their parents.Β Take me for example, when I would complain about my parents people would pass it off as such. However, now that I'm still saying they treated me badly at 21, as well as realising that a lot of the things they did wasn't normal they're starting to listen.

Some examples of what my parents did:

My mum cut me open with a wire brush to teach me a lesson.

Would always shout at me for 'having an attitude' when she needed to have been on meds.

Shouting at me for having 'a miserable face' when I have a monotonous expression due to Autism.

Letting my sister who's 14 years younger than me, hit me, pull my hair, breakΒ and steal my things as much as she wanted without being punished.

Saying she'd put me away when I had a sensory overload fit.

Hitting me around the head and neck repeatedly when I dropped a dog cage on her foot that she MADE me carry.

Refusing to let me move to a better school when bullying was driving me insane because she couldn't be bothered to get up earlier to drive me there.

Shouting at me when the college put her in her place when she was trying to access my records when I was over 18 (I live in the UK).

NOTE! For anyone who wants to flame: I am not trying to get attention by listing what happened to me. I am not afraid to speak out and maybe help others in the future.

My parents are okay. I'm not having the best relationship with them at the moment because they literally will tell me that my dreams are stupid and that I'm going to be flat broke my entire life, and they make fun of me in public and then scold me for it, and they yell at me when I cry about my problems, and scold me for going to the guidance counselor because I want to talk about why I'm upset without being yelled at, I literally (yes, ever since I could think) have thought that my mom was a bitch and my dad was an ass, and they tell me every time I get hurt that it was because I didn't have enough to complain about, and they make fun of me during and after traumatic experiences, but they say it's what families go through so . .Β . oh well. Though my counselor has seen them in action and agrees that they're a little too much. Oh well it'll pass.

I laughed so freaking hard halfway through I agree completely. Sure, my mom gets on my nerves a lot, telling me to text her so she knows I'm alright, nags me about tests I'm having and constantly worries over every single detail I do. But it's because she loves me. I would never even Think about saying I hate her, it's not even close. She does it because she loves me, and I love her for that.

My dad is a little edgy, but he hasΒ gotten madΒ at bad teachers that they never get through their skulls I have ASD, and should be more specific with their teaching (this is when they go to far,Β never listen and just never respect my disabilities), so he loves me in his own way, even though he has no idea how a teenage girl feels when he was never one. I love him too.

Β

All members in my family can be a real pain in the ass but it's not Worth whining over. It's thanks to them I'm still alive, happy and have a meaningful life.

Yes! Parents should never fear that disciplinary actions will give their children nightmares! I was regretfully scared shitless with the disciplinary actions I received as a child, but they were ways of scaring me straight! Here's what the term "scare 'em straight" means in case you're wondering -> tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php…

Parents who DO get on to their kids are parenting "the right way" and trying to raise a wise, intelligent, successful child. I once heard someone say "My mom brought me to school early today beecause she had to go to work earlier. I hate my mom!" All I could think was "She's working hard to feed your sorry butt and trying to keep a flipping roof over your head!" I can't stand people who don't have a REAL reason to hate their parents.Β  i mean they should be grateful to even have caregivers! Sheesh...so glad I am not one of those abnoxious teens... I honet to goodness could never hate my parents. At least not for some stupid reason like in the description.
