Description
The map I used for the Venus Globe, slightly more optimized. Put it on here in case anyone is interested in using it. Download for full size, it 16k X 8k and 53mbs. Full view size is a little under 1/100th full image size.Related content

Excellent Map Ittiz,Venus is one of my favourites,i've always dreamed of living on a jungle planet
damn it would be very hot down there, like more than 30°C on the cancer and capricorn tropic, how a lush forest like that would even survive on the Equator?
don't get me wrong,it's just curiosity

Hmm, I thought I explained it, but I'm too lazy to check right now. Basically the equator to pole and back flow would consist only of one hadley cell in each hemisphere. Maybe even just one global one (pole to pole) that reverses flow between winter and summer (like Saturn's moon Titan). Basically what that means is the surface temperature would be fairly uniform in the north-south directions. With the exception of the polar collar, which would cut just the polar areas off from the warm air.

I get the impression that a terraformed venus would be a humid swampy planet of temperature extremes. Ishtar Terra would be where snow and dry ice would pile up, and humid hot swamp on Aphrodite Terra. Artificial moons would have to give it light and heat while keeping it from getting too warm. The atmosphere would still be thick with clouds. Nearly constant thunderstorms on Aphrodite Terra, powered by the water ever-present on the planet.

Not sure if you saw it, but I made a globe based on this map as well: ittiz.deviantart.com/art/Reali… Due to the higher temperature there would no doubt be more water vapor in the atmosphere, but there wouldn't necessarily be more clouds since the elevation differences are so small that there would be few features for the water vapor to interact with. It's when water gets near the condensation point you start to see it. You'd probably want to engineer the atmosphere/biosphere to have less water since it's a powerful greenhouse gas. Otherwise you may get a runaway green house like Venus has today. No doubt Venus once had oceans like the Earth, but they boiled away before many interesting things could happen there, like life evolving.

OMG! How do you think I could download an image of THAT size?

with patience I have no clue how long it takes on dial up, but with broad band it should take a min or two.

omg how in hell would we terra form this planet and keep it at a stable temprature

Theoretically possible if you have fewer geen house gasses or a thinner atmosphere or a lesser combination of both. Just make sure to bring your sun screen

have you ever thought of making an ancient venus map

Yep, but unfortunately has gone through a resurfacing event over the entire surface some few hundred million years ago. So an ancient Venus showing what it would have looked like when it still had oceans would be completely speculative.

You know? After Terraformation of Venus, they should renamed her. Same with Mars and Moon. Red Planet, Silver globe(like we call Moon in Poland) would not fit anymore. I tink about Tropica for Venus, Terra Luna for moon and...ummm...Mars for Mars.

Eh, I just try to image what it would look like. If someone actually does it they can figure out a new name if they'd like

Ah, I see it; top center. I wonder how many people (who are not astronomers) know of Venerean geographical locations?

Don't know, maybe I should make another one with labels, or maybe an interactive SVG, that way people could easily add their own labels too.
