Description
I hear "you're so weird" whenever I tell someone I listen to music in other languages. It's not called being weird guys, it's called being open minded - as in I give any kinds of music a chance. It doesn't matter if you can't understand the words, music is music any way you look at. Try something new out, you might be surprised.Stamp template from- Here

Sorry for the late reply.
I agree. Knowing the meaning of the song is nice, but it's not always necessary for it to be enjoyable.

I completely agree with this stamp. Music is music, no matter in what language it is sung, as long as it is pleasant to the ear of the listener. And I understand how you feel, I have been at the receiving end of the "you are so weird" look many, many times based on the music I have on my mp3. And most people who look at us with the "you're weird" look most of the time think that we're listening to japonese because we're anime freaks, which while it may be commum, it is the same thing as saying that all south-americans eat chilli com carne. I mean, I like anime, and I do have one or two songs in japonese on my mp3, but I also have songs in french, arabe, itallian, latin, gregorian, portugueses and even in languages that don't even exist. It's called having an ecletic taste, people, and it is nothing to be ashamed about.

Exactly, as long as it's pleasant to hear unsatisfied. I know not everyone can't like the same thing, like rap for example. I don't like it, but I don't tell people that they're stupid or weird for listening to it because I know it's a type of music. Most people who do listen to Japanese music are considered "anime freaks/nerds" and that's just not true. Like I said in the comments below, since Japanese music isn't popular here, anime is really the only way, America (and maybe other countries) can become introduced to it. So in a way, we do have anime to thank for that. But people need to realize that anime IS NOT the only reason why we listen to it. And I'm like you, I have songs in a couple different languages such as Spanish, German, Russian, Japanese and obviously English.

They're kind of discouraging, but I try to shrug them off. I just wish some people would try to give it a chance, you know?

T-T....lemme guess, you listen to japanese music??
i dont have problem with people listening to it, its just that most people who do are the stereotype americans who pretend to be japanese anime characters and whatnot...like "omg desu kawaii!!! T-T its like dude, your not freaking japanese. stop trying to be something you're not.
and sadly, most people don't listen to foreign music other than japanese...
there, i stated my opinion. be angry or agree with me, it doesn't bother me c:

I appreciate a good opinion, it makes for a good discussion. Don't you think? I will say though that I do agree and I also don't agree with your view on it. Most people who listen to Japanese music are at least interested in the language or the artist, which is good. But you do also have those people that, like you said, are just in it for the anime. Don't get me wrong, I am an anime fan as well. I just don't obsess over it like some people. I don't randomly say something is "kawaii desu" because obviously, no one will understand it. However, I do like the word "kawaii" not because of anime, but because of the language as a whole. I would really like to learn the language, and if I ever get the opportunity I plan on doing so. Another thing I'd like to point out is that I don't only listen to Japanese music. I also listen to German, Spanish, Korean and obviously English. I like music in other languages because it's diverse, not because of something a certain country has.

Ahh, you made some good points there c:
I do like the Japanese language, but I guess I'm a bit turned off to it because of all the "weeaboos" i think they're called...;D Some of my friends that live in Japan feel actually insulted by all the obsessions because too many people try to pretend to be Japanese and get the words wrong >.<
Me too, I like alot of European Music (not one direction ono) c:

Trust me, I know how your friends feel. Even I get insulted sometimes by the way Americans try to act Japanese. In my opinion, it's a form of trying to show off when in reality, they really don't know what they're talking about. But you also have to realize that when it comes to living in America, anime really IS the only way to be introduced to that culture. If I didn't start watching anime when I was younger, I don't think I would know about any Japanese music at all, and in a way it's sad because not many Asian artists are introduced unless it's through anime, and it really shouldn't be like that. But unfortunately, it is. And it's still VERY difficult to get any of the Asian artists over here to perform live because like my stamp is saying, people think it's weird when someone else listens to something in a different language. People don't want to accept something different like that so it ruins it for the fans.
As for the words thing, I totally agree. I absolutely cannot stand when someone says they're so interested in Japan in the language and yet can't even attempt to get the words right. Honestly, if people aren't willing to study the language don't attempt to speak it.

I think you see that because the obnoxious ones are the ones that stand out the most.
Also sadly there are a lot of young teenagers who get into that stuff
"most people don't listen to foreign music other than japanese..."
I think that might actually be K-pop... LOL those things have like 50,000,000 views per song on youtube.

I can totally relate. I don't let anyone see what I have on my ipod anymore because 10 seconds in going through the songs they all have a puzzled look and say it's strange that I like foreign songs.

I can see where you're coming from as to why you don't let anyone look at your iPod anymore. It is disappointing when you hear people say such things but I've learned to shrug it off (sort of). I actually like telling people I listen to music and other languages. I know this usually doesn't happen, but I always hope that one person will say something like "oh can I listen to one?" when I tell them about it. I always hope to make at least one person interested, even if it's just a little bit.

Yeah, I've gotten a few of my friends interested in some songs, it's more just people I don't know well I'm wary about in letting them know of my music taste. And it is a good feeling when you meet someone who's interested, it's nice to discover new things and to share it with others

I hear ya! I'll be singing or listening to a song in Japanese and then my friend will walk in, and she'll be like: "What are you singing in? Japanese?? That's weird." And I'll be like: "NO. IT'S. NOT!"

Lol unfortunately I can't really sing in Japanese just because I can never catch all the words, I can sing a few songs though - usually the slower paced once. But I do get the same remarks if I'm blasting it on my computer or something, you know? I've even been told before to shut down all. So annoying...

Sounds annoying! And I do sing in Japanese sometimes, but it's never perfect I just usually watch the anime show that goes with it, then the theme song gets stuck in my head, so I always end up going to Youtube
