B'otzanga ("Black Lizard" in hñahñù / Otomi - a.k.a Tlilcuetzpalin in Nahuatl) was a 15th Century Hñahñù chief from Ndongu (a.k.a Xiquipilco in Nahuatl) who resisted against the military expansion of the In Excan Tlahtoloyan (a.k.a Triple Alliance or "Aztec Empire", which main altepetl / city state was Mexico - Tenochtitlán), led by Axayacatl (Huey Tlatoani "Great Speaker", Mexica ruler at the time) in the Toluca Valley.Later sources claim that, around the year Mahtlactli-omome Tochtli (12 Rabbit, 1478), B'otzanga, or Tlilcuetzpalin, hurt Axayacatl, who had to be aided by a Texcocoan general, Quetzalmamalitzin, to escape the ambush alive. A statue of B'otzanga was erected in his honor on the Centro Cerminonial Otomi / Hñahñù, in the Mexico State.
