This picture has amazing duality! Underneath are the bare stones and the trees, while above there is a lush forest. Yet the blue of the water and the reflection of the mountain bind them together as more than mere reflections of each other. There is so much more to find in this picture as well.

this looks such a beautiful place to visit! I am going to Vancouver in December, is this place easily accessible via public transport?

This lake was still completely frozen in June, what do you think about December? It's under 5 meters of snow
Not by public transport, only car.

Check out the clubtread forums - [link] - it's for hiking. I am sure you can join a group going up there.
But then again, going there is December requires skis or snowshoes, lots of gear, etc.

thank you so much, you've been most helpful! I'll have a look into it
I didn't think about all of that sort of snow gear. I'm from Australia so I'm not too sure what to expect snow and weather wise apart from it being freezing!

Not much snow in Van - mostly ugly boring rain. Banff - yes it will snow like crazy there.

You said, that colours are true to reality. But what is reality? Everyone conceive world in a different ways. So it is with colours. But it's not quite that what I wanted to point out. Whichever camera you would've used, you'll never get the same what you've seen with your eyes. Eye is far, far, far better tool for registering the view than any camera in the world. Going this scent I can easily deny your words that the colours are true to reality.
But maybe something about the photo
HDR used here make the photo very imaginable. As befits mountain lake, it's very clear water which you've perfectly exposed, though referring to your previous comment on the temperature of the lake - I don't think it's zero there, because there's ripple on the surface which in crystallized water wouldn't have shown Yet the harsh and cold climate of the altitude is clearly visible because of snow laying here and there between trees. Beautiful gradient of colours of trees and blue sky mirroring in the lake. Good composition showing beauty and tranquillity of the scene. Good work

Well, I could only bear sticking my foot in there for about 5 seconds. After that, the whole legs begins to numb rather quickly.
0 degrees Celsius is pretty damn cold for a swim. I think you'd have muscle cramps and could drown. I might give it a shot if I'm feeling brave LOL. I'll make sure to record it on video for everyone's entertainment.

If you think that you're gonna get muscle cramp from that then don't do it, I've gotten muscle crapm while swimming before and it's not fun, at least I was in only waist deep of water
