Description Full Title: Walking the Tightrope with Burning Bush Cookout
Hard to believe I did this almost 20 years ago...

Hard to see in the bad scan, but those are hot dogs being cooked over the Burning Bush, and yes, those are marshmallows on the ground near it. Near the ladder is a box of floating halos.

very dali-esque
it's actually pretty creepy
the surrealism in the foreground with a calm realistic landscape as the background
the colorscheme even reminds me of dali

Thanks! I'm a fan of dali!

A lot of surrealism (not just Dali) seems to use the constructs you mention to achieve the overall style of surrealism.

Now if I had put some crutches and drawers in the painting...

One question...Why is there a naked woman in the water?

Nice blending of colors, by the way!

She is a symbol of a certain aspect of a religion (and thus faceless).
thanks!

My oh my! I spotted his on the right hand side, and decided to have a look-see... Little did I expect to see something with an amount of sheer awesomeness nearly equal to myself! All self-flattering aside, this is the kind of picture that makes me wish I had talent!

My Girlfriend says it says to her "Walking the tightrope between Heaven and Hell." It reminds me a lot of Frazetta's style, and that brings back many fond memories. This is a cool picture.

I like this very much. I'd like to see a better scan, but the elements in this are what are most important, of course, and make it most interesting. The mix of lust and holiness contrasted by the holy burning bush in the darkness, and of course the bbq(gluttony?)makes a very interesting comment on how hard it can be to tell whats right, and what is true evil, if true evil does still exist. This is one I'll have to look at and pore over for quite a while. Excellent work...I'll have to run off and see some current stuff next.

That's funny yet symbolic at the same time ^_^ Lol, so who's supposed to be walking the tightrope? And how did you do this? It looks like some kind of paint. It's really awesome! ^__^ So much going on in it. Congrats on the Daily Deviation, you deserve it! ^__^

This reminds me more of Yves Tanguy than Dali, But that was 10 seconds ago and I'm changing my mind.
It's wonderful. I enjoy the subtle contrast of warm and cold colours... it was the first thing I noticed.

Interesting piece. I like the kind of casual pose of the blue-haired figure, as well as the blank face - the latter aspect is kind of a neat contrast to the lounging.

wow yo can so analyze this, so much symbolism, and it varies to person to person. I enjoy this peice for its light earted ness, and htesame time its seriousness about the christian faith.... Though it also how its all laid out makes me think of the end of the "End of Evengelion" movie.... where the world is trashd and a giant body is lying across a rice field and then te crosses are everwhere XD....

I pretty much sum it up in the description, but it was painted out of frustration with religious hypocrisy around the time I painted it.
