Description Description: This script will add thumb code collecting capabilities to deviantArt. It is also capable, of sorting thumbs, and sending notes to deviants one has featured in a journal or news article. Use it to collect tons of thumbs for features and forum activities.

Shameless self promotion

Installing If you don't already have GreaseMonkey installed on your Firefox, than click here to install it . After you restarted FireFox click here to install ThumbTools. GreaseMonkey will ask if you'd like to install the script, click "install" and enjoy! IMPORTANT If you have Thumbler, or the previous version of ThumbTools installed, un-install it first. IMPORTANT: If after installing you get the previous version again, than please delete your browsers cache, and try again!

INSTALL SCRIPT (After installing greasemonkey )
This is still a buggy BETA! Please report all errors you may come across!Keep regularly checking the menu! If a new version is released, a new menu item will appear to inform you about that!

Usage Drag your mouse over an image, and copy the thumb code. To collect more thumbs press the + button, and use the "dA Thumbs" button in the "ThumbTools" menu!

PLEASE SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT by visiting my gallery, or donating points.
Developer:

Note on Chrome compatibility: User scripts for Chrome do not allow GM_getValue and GM_setValue, and I'm making extensive use of them in this script! Due to this short coming I do not see a Chrome compatible version in the near future!

Current version > 2.0.32 beta

Version 2.0.31 beta
Major BUG fix! This won't change anything if you are a moderator at a group! But if you do not moderate any groups, than this will make the script work for you

Version 2.0.32 beta
Two tiny bug fixes

Version 2.0.321 beta
=Dediggefedde has partially restored functionality, after the project and the plugin was dead for about 2 years. Thanks for that!

Next version: The project was dead for 2 years now after I had started to have financial problems. Since than my life returned to normal, but for now I have other pet projects that are more dear to my heart. Also keeping a grease monkey script alive, is a pain if the host site is changing frequently and refuses to provide an API, so it is simply just more work than it's worth. Maybe one day (when the 5th or 6th similar grease monkey with basically the same features gets created, and then abandoned) dA will realize that this feature should be part of their own website, or at least they provide some kind of API. But until than I don't think I have time to take care of this regularly.

Features I wish I could have done:
User definable output styles, Support for HTML and BB codes, support Large tumbs, support :dev: and :icon: codes
handle :print: codes and prints
Saving and loading lists, adding to saved list
Show thumb menu on deviations page too.
Auto-sync selection indicators between windows
Suggest DD

Requirement FireFox, GreaseMonkey

Any other idea is welcome!

If you extend this script, please send it back to me, so I can include it in the next version

Hmm... so you open up your gallery page ( [link] ) and a ThumbTools button won't appear next to the log out button even after the page is completely loaded?

Fantastic! I would recommend having the buttons labeled more clearly, and I'd also like to suggest making a button so that the items you selected will show up at :thumb#######: in that text box that is generated

The icons were designed by ~iqk and I think they are totally awesome, but you are not the first one to complain about clarity I may change them soon

I didn't really understand your suggestion. Can you please try to make it more clear

Thx 4 the

The design is wonderful, but even scrolling over and having a simple description would help so much more!

Okay, let me try to explain better

You know how when you select a few deviations and click one of the buttons at the top, and it generates an HTML or BBC code to copy and paste else where? It would be nice if there was also a button to generate the thumbshare thumbnail codes to copy and paste right into the forum rather than needing to individually copy and paste from under the deviations.

roll over descriptions are in my plans! Just takes time!

There is a button like that! Okay... now I'm seriously thinking over my opinion about liking the icon designs It's the 3rd button!

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

ivettordog In reply to Holly6669666 [2009-02-01 17:40:13 +0000 UTC]

Using Internet explorer is like leaving you front door wide open while you are not at home Why not even stick a "go ahead, steal my passwords" sign on the door? Use Firefox or Opera... IE is really not a way to go if you worry about security!

IE dose not support any extension... (unlike any other browser) One of many-many reasons NOT to use IE...

sorry to butt in, but Opera is by far the best browser there is, period, FF is not too bad but keep in mind that most of the options, features and preferences added to FF via add-ons have been first developed by the team at Opera and integrated to their browser, FF has just copied them afterwards, Opera rocks,

I still don't understand why dA hasn't come up with anything of their own to fix this issue?!
Unfortunately for me, I'm not allowed atm to download any new shit on my owna nd my brother won't approve of this deffo, especially because it requires another program of some sort...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ivettordog In reply to MonstarPink [2009-01-16 22:57:40 +0000 UTC]

Well... sooner or later they will... most of the useful user scripts get to be implemented after a while. ( developers are not idiots, they just don't have that much time... probably...)

Greasemonkey is totally trustworthy, and FireFox is far more trustworthy than Internet Explorer. If you are using IE, I would strongly recommend using FF3 instead, as the number of security flaws in IE is just ridiculous. Using IE is like leaving open your front door, and sticking a message on it: "come in and steal what ever you want to" it is somewhat a miracle so many people still use that crap...

Greasemonkey is a plug-in for FF3, and a very well written one. Early versions did have some flaws, but by now it is absolutely safe to install it.

MonstarPink In reply to ivettordog [2009-01-16 23:06:35 +0000 UTC]

I use Firefox Just that with the recent mayjah PC breakdown, after which it was cleaned totally (kind of), my brother doesn't allow me to install anything, so I have ot ask him first and he migh tnot want to get it done. Not a big deal, I can live without it. I just don't understand how they haven't come up with it themselves yet, among the other crap availible here, so people don't have to download things. I've already trie to raise this issue on the Suggestions forum, but the threads die there quickly anyway. I guess, I'll keep on re-posting it every once in a while until they do something about it

Well, for me, it's already a good advantage. I don't know now if I will use it for html. I manage my personal website with a blog tool and images are hosted on my own space.

By the way, I think that a person that uses your tool should at least fave it.

That's most kind of you! BTW my main purpose was certainly to help DASharing, it is just a byproduct, that it can be used for blogs, and other forums as well...

Honestly I shared this script hoping that it will bring at least a bit more attention to the rest of my gallery as well If it turns out to be the case, I'll write some more similar tools in the near future So yeah... faving it is absolutely helpful, and appreciated! Thank you so much

Fant0me In reply to ivettordog [2009-01-16 21:29:18 +0000 UTC]

I hope that you will reach your objective.

For sure, I will use your tool during the next days. If I continue to love it (my first test was very positive), I will mention it in my next journal update, at the end of January. By the way, would you like to receive feedback, not linked to eventual bugs, in order to improve your tool ?

And if you need ideas for similar tools, don't hesitate to contact me. I have some needs not yet met, on DA.

ivettordog In reply to Fant0me [2009-01-16 21:38:17 +0000 UTC]

As I stated in the description this is a Beta version. If no bug reports are received in the near future, I will make it version 1.0 So please, do report any bugs, so I can correct them ASAP If I change the script to fix bugs or add new functionality, I my watchers will know it immediately as I will update with "minor update" option unchecked Everyone else should check back sometimes, and look at the end of the description for update info.

Any ideas are welcome certainly, and as long as I feel that my efforts with the user scripts worth it, I will keep developing them

No... actually I did not expect this problem... changed the extension, and that's why the script won't load.

Solution: save the file as [link] (extension must be .user.js not just .js) and drag'n'drop the file on a firefox window!
